Neutral Milk Hotel last Monday, followed by a guy named Trevor Sensor on Thursday. Sensor may have a future ahead of him.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

AKB48 (well, six members of it) is coming to Manhattan this Sunday to do a 20-minute set at the Bandshell in Central Park as part of Japan Day.

http://www.japandaynyc.org

I saw them the last time they came to New York--in 2009 (16 members came that time). They did a concert at Webster Hall then.

Big concert season upcoming for me.

Sleater Kinney two weeks ago, Sturgill Simpson opening for Old Crow Medicine Show last week, and barring an absolute deluge tonight, Graveyard, Clutch, and Mastodon.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

We saw Rush last night here in Tulsa and it was an awesome show. They played Jacob's Ladder for the first time in what some people are saying has been 35 years. Geddy said before the song that it was the first time they have ever played it live. Here is a good video that another concert goer recorded.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RT7k_pJRcKE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here is the set list if you are interested in knowing what they played last night.

Spoiler:

Set 1
Clockwork Angels
The Anarchist
Headlong Flight (with 'Drumbastica' drum solo)
Far Cry
The Main Monkey Business
One Little Victory
Animate
Roll the Bones
Distant Early Warning
Subdivisions

Set 2
Tom Sawyer
Red Barchetta
The Spirit of Radio
Jacob's Ladder
Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres Part I: Prelude
Cygnus X-1
Closer to the Heart
Xanadu
2112 Part I: Overture
2112 Part II: The Temples of Syrinx
2112 Part IV: Presentation
2112 Part VII: Grand Finale

Encore
Lakeside Park
Anthem
What You're Doing
Working Man

Saw The Who and Elton John (not together, haha) week before last. I'll be catching Rush on the 20th, hopefully not for the last time

Saw fucking FAITH NO MORE Friday night in Detroit. An amazing show. The brought out Chuck Mosley to sing "Mark Bowen" which was pretty cool.

I saw this setlist a few day ago. I have to admit, having never seen them before, I would have been disappointed in a show so heavy on new material. I thought the two singles were much better live but I was a little disappointed in some of the new ones hearing them for the first time. Glad you thought it was great though. I'm sure I'll appreciate them more after the album grows on me.

I haven't been to a concert in years but all of sudden, I'm going to 3 (so far) this year: Romeo Santos, U2 and the Marc Anthony/Carlos Vives.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Don't know if it really counts as a concert since I doubt there was much (if any) live singing, but I took my daughter and a couple of her friends to Britney Spears - Piece of Me last night. As a spectacle it was pretty cool, like music videos being performed for you. I guess I've never been to a pop show like that with choreography and elaborate staging. It's very odd to see a concert where the live vocals are almost an afterthought. While I certainly won't be doing that often, it was kind of a cool show I have to admit.

Short set. They sounded okay, but pretty much just Taylor standing singing, not much enthusiasm.

I've seen them in a small club, and that's where they are entertaining at this stage of their career.

I'm going next week, and I'm interested in hearing how the sound is - I read that they set up their own sound system, with the speakers above everyone's head, so it's an even dispersal of sound, without having to get too loud. Is that something you noticed?
