I don't really like listening to them on cd, but Hatebreed does put on a great live show.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Been a good run of shows in my neck of the woods lately, especially for us old fogey rockers.
January 17: The Dickies
January 24: The Paul Collins Beat
January 29: The Dollyrots
This weekend I'm hoping to get to Mustard Plug with The Toasters (more interested in The Toasters), then on February 21 heading to L.A. for The Dickies and The Muffs. A great double bill in both music, and band names.

I'll be seeing Mushroomhead, Dope, and Doyle (on the same bill!) at the Whiskey next month. My GF bought tickets to Imagine Dragons for later on this year - I don't think I've heard any of the their tunes before but am excited to finally see Metric live (they're opening for ID). I've been digging their stuff ever since members on here recommend them to me if I liked The Sounds and Shiny Toy Guns.

I saw Metric open for Muse a few years back. They were great. Emily Haines

Midge Ure acoustic show in Boston. Holy cow, his voice sounds fantastic--great stage presence and funny banter, too. This one was particularly poignant after Steven Strange's passing last week:

Bought a front row ticket over the weekend for a summer show featuring Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes, and Colin Hay. Looking forward to it.

Snocore last night featuring Flyleaf, Adelitas Way, Framing Hanley, and Fit For Rivals. Flyleaf has a new singer on their current album (which is really good), although she sounds a little karaoke-ish on their classic material. I'm kind of digging Fit for Rivals, they are supposed to have a new album coming this year. Flyleaf did a 3 song acoustic set for the pre-show meet & greet.

Man, do all LA shows start so early? I got to the Roxy in Hollywood at 10PM, and The Muffs were finishing their set. Dickies went on around 10:45 or so, and I was out of there by midnight.

Just say Billy Idol at the Observatory in Santa Ana last night. Excellent show. Idol's voice is still strong, but I could tell he was off pitch during a few songs. Not a big deal, as the band was incredible. As a hobby guitarist, I have to say that Steve Stevens gets better with age. Great stage presence and a very tasteful player. I can't imagine how successful Billy would have been if he had paired up with a different song writer all those years ago.

You should read "Dancing With Myself" (Billy's Autobiography) as it goes over his relationships with Steve and other players. Super quick read and very fun.

I'm actually about a third of the way through it . I just finished John Lydon's book the week before, "Anger is An Energy". Very long (500+ pages) but he offered a very good insight into the creation and demise of the Pistols, and all the tribulations he encountered as he started up Public Image Limited. Not a quick read by comparison, but I've been a PIL fan for decades so it was well worth the time to check it out.

One of my favorite J-pop groups, Berryz Kobo, just performed their final concert in Japan and I watched it live over the web on the Douyu channel. It was on from 4AM to 7:30AM New York time (6PM to 9:30PM Japan time). All before getting ready to leave for work.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
saw Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice march 13 (same venue i saw nicole atkins, same seats).
"...the top Male Vocalist award from the IBMA in 2013 and then the band as a whole to receive Best Bluegrass Band (Overall) honors from SPBGMA the very next year is quite the coup. To do it right after you score consecutive 2012 and 2013 IBMA and SPBGMA Album of the Year awards..."
really great show. lead guy recently had spinal surgery so had to play in a neck brace, and did not seem to affect his voice at all. i thought speed metal guitarists had the market on fast fingers, but watching both the mandolin and banjo players from front row i could not even keep up with how fast they moved. played maybe an hour, took a break and sold merch shook hands with people in the lobby, then came back for another hour and half. silly, family friendly banter between songs, and a ton of music crammed into the time. sad stuff, uplifting stuff, played by skilled people who obviously enjoy what they do. saw them in ny and next day they had a show in virginia. i do not envy the life of a small time touring musician.

Fleetwood Mac. Had nosebleed seats but it was obstructed and not stated on the ticket so I complained to guest services. They moved me and my sister to the floor. Great seats and great show.

Saw Kitty, Daisy & Lewis last night in Los Angeles. Brother and two sisters, with Mom and Dad backing them up.
