Aimee Mann to release Christmas album

Aimee just finished recording a Christmas album due out this fall. It features Aimee's unique perspective on classic holiday songs as well as an original Aimee Christmas song, so plan on keeping your Kleenex under the tree.

"One More Drifter in the Snow"
1. Whatever Happened to Christmas
2. Christmas Song
3. Christmastime (witten by Michael Penn)
4. I'll be Home for Christmas
5. You're a Mean one, Mr. Grinch
6. Winter Wonderland
7. Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
8. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
9. White Christmas
10. Calling on Mary (Aimee Mann original song)
Check back later at aimeemann.com for more info.

Christmas Song and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas have been available on iTunes since last winter, as an FYI.

I'll buy that--my wife likes to add new Christmas albums every year but non-suck ones are hard to find.

cungar 08-02-06 01:04 PM

I'd buy just about anything by Aimee Mann.. except a Christmas album. Ugh.

Matt 08-02-06 02:04 PM

Were the holidays just not depressing enough already, Aimee?

Jack Straw 08-02-06 02:53 PM

I agree. She's a very good singer, but Aimee Mann and Xmas go together like prozac with an eggnog chaser.

That being said, I'll probably still at least sample if not buy the CD just out of curiousity.

I love me some Aimee....so I'll pick one up.

My favorite Christmas album is by The Brian Setzer Orchestra.

cungar 08-02-06 05:33 PM

I'd love to hear her wrap that voice around some Jazz Standards.

Giantrobo 08-02-06 05:58 PM

I wish she would hook up with RUSH again. :(

I listened to a promo copy of the album and it's pretty damn good, esp. "Christmastime" and "Calling on Mary". It'll get many spins in my house this holiday season.

This is easily my most anticipated release of the year. Supposedly the great "31 Today" song will be included on this release. For those not familiar with the song check it out on youtube:

Oh and @#%&! is supposed to stand for "F*cking"; so its really called "F*cking Smilers". Great title I might add.

Can't wait!

auto 03-02-08 04:33 PM

That is a pretty good tune.

Yeah, I'm anxiously awaiting this new CD as well. I frequently visit the Aimee Mann forum to get more details on her releases.

Here's another song from the upcoming CD that Aimee performs live... it's called "Columbus Avenue".

Apparently the new CD will not have any electric guitar. Should be interesting.

I hope that's the album cover!

Me too . . . friggin' fantastic! June can't come soon enough. :)

LiquidSky 03-03-08 07:17 AM

Cool news! I love me some Aimee.

cungar 03-03-08 10:04 AM

Hope this is a return to form. The Forgotten Arm was a big dissapointment.

Bachelor #2 remains one of my favotrite albums of the last 10 years.

I loved The Forgotten Arm! :)

chris_sc77 03-03-08 11:52 AM

^Me too. Thats probably my favorite Aimee cd. Lost In Space: Special Edition is a really close 2nd though.

Coral 03-03-08 01:15 PM

Count me as another who loved TFA. It took a few more spins than LIS, but I like it almost as much. Bachelor #2 is solid as well, even if it's a slight notch below the last two. Her first two are very good as well. I don't think Aimee's capable of making a bad album.

Great song. But has to be the worst/dumbest video I've ever seen.

Gizmo 03-04-08 12:18 AM

I only listen to a few artists....Aimee Mann is one of them and I'm super excited for this album. I love The Forgotten Arm and Lost in Space, and the Magnolia soundtrack is what got me into her. Not a big fan of Bachelor #2, but I'll be spinning this in my car this week. Simply cannot freaking wait for this.

That girl in the video looks like Eric Stoltz in Mask.
