If I were her lawyer, I'd say few people can sing live well and dance. I've heard her sing live a few times years ago and while it wasn't great, she could sort of pull it off. The clip above makes it seem like she's completely tone deaf. As her lawyer again, performers can't always hear themselves so that may explain it. I'm not a big fan of Britney. She can do pop and she can perform.

I never thought I'd say this but I wish she was still more popular than garbage like Lady Gaga. It's like commercial manufactured pop music is getting worse and worse when you didn't think that was even possible. I think I long for the days of N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, whatever else over this Justin Bieber shit.

The more accurate thread title would be "Does Britney Spears have issues singing" and the answer is yes.

Lady Gaga is far more talented and interesting than Britney Spears ever was I think, even if you don't dig her style of music. And she can actually sing without help from a machine.

Justin Bieber aside, I think commercialized pop music is better now that it ever was. It's one of the few genres that actually got better. Commercialized rock music on the other hand is absolute shit.

I think an even more succinct question would be "Does Britney Spears have issues?" and the answer is still "Yes".

Although my main music preference is metal (Overkill, Kreator, Slayer, Exodus, etc) and some female singer/songwriter types (Chantal Kreviazuk, Tori Amos, etc), there is still something about Britney Spear's music that I'm drawn to, and I'm quite amazed that she can continue to release big albums at this stage in her career. Her last two or three albums since her breakdown are as strong as anything she has put out.

I'm disappointed that she cannot figure out how to sing live, and that makes the tours she is performing kind of a joke, but she still manages to play huge arenas, so perhaps she doesn't see a need to change. I still considered taking my younger daughter to see Britney, but the nose-bleeder tickets in the 300 level were over $100, and seats in the 100 level were over $300.
