(now that I think about it, that show was a big deal, it was some semi-well known hardcore band's last tour. I couldn't stand them)

SF, I remember Dillinger Escape Plan, awesome show. AFI Halloween show, it was cool but I wouldn't go out the way to see them again.
Total Chaos. Complete waste of my time, I tagged along on that one but should have stayed home...their cd's are bad but live is 100x worse. Rancid was good. Saw Bad Religion in San Jose I think, maybe Santa Cruz, they were awesome (would have been about 12 years ago).
Quite a few more, I used to live in my friends laundry room (cheapest rent ever!) and work 10 hours a week. Spent my time going to shows or setting them up.

Growing up in the NC mountains, all concerts were a 2 hour drive. So....nearly 4 hours to Clemson Sc for Pink Floyd, and 3 1/2 hours to see Prince in Columbia SC

I've driven halfway across WA (~3 hours) to go to Warped Tour a couple of times. But they always do Warped at The Gorge, so maybe that doesn't really count. Oh, and I saw Blink 182 there a couple of times as well.

Farthest distance I traveled specifically for a concert was just over 5000 miles from Honolulu to Boston and NYC to see Underworld.

My wife and I drove 4.5 hours to Anaheim to see one of the first U2 shows of their Vertigo Tour. Of course they ended up having a Vegas show on the second leg of the tour. At least we swung a weekend at Disneyland out of the trip.

I've toured with Phish for weeks at a time when I was younger. I still travel to see them regularly.

2004 - Flew from Vegas to Pittsburgh then drove to northern Vermont with friends for what was supposed to be their final shows.

2009 - Flew from Vegas to Virginia for their reunion shows.

2010 - Flew from Vegas to Maryland for a weekend.

2011 - Flying from Vegas to North Carolina and seeing shows in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Portsmouth, VA.

I flew from Vegas to Pittsburgh to see Okkervil River and the New Pornographers with my brother.

I've driven to LA to see My Morning Jacket (3x), the Black Crowes (2x), and the Drive By Truckers.

I believe in 2002, I drove from Michigan to New York to visit a friend. However, I made this trip around seeing an artist that I love performing on Feb 14th at Irving Plaza in NYC. I went to see Jonatha Brooke in concert as she was not hitting Michigan on that tour. I've seen her once in Michigan since then.

I'll be flying out from Phoenix to Milwaukee for the PJ20 Festival. Should be a good time.

I've been going to Coachella for the past few years and have been driving to California to see Pearl Jam shows since 2006.

Manhattan to see Radiohead back in August 2001...it's only 180 miles away, so not much of a drive. But then again, most every live act I wanted to see has come to Philly, which is a little closer.

I drove down to la for the final nine inch nails shows. Had tix for three of the four shows, but of course trent got sick during/after the first show and the other three got pushed back to the following week when I had to be back at work. Still had a blast.

Typically I always have to drive about an hour to a show despite Louisville floating between the top 16-30 US cities in the past decade. Unless it's Gaga, Taylor Swift or similar huge acts, shows seem to avoid Louisville. The new KFC Yum! Center seems to be changing that slowly.

I did take a week vacation and flew to LA to see Dream Theater. Easily ranks as the furthest for me.

Living in the middle of Maine....don't get many good shows up here. Drove 5 hours to see Beastie Boys in Boston, and flew to New York last fall to see Pavement in Central Park.

And you get the occasional stadium acts coming to Hershey.

Re: What's the furthest you've traveled for a concert tour that skipped your town

Only country bands come to Waco, TX. So, I drove to New Orleans to see The Cure in 2000. That's the farthest I've driven to see a band.
