Rufus Wainwright, Jörn Weisbrodt & Leonard Cohen's daughter, Lorca, have a baby

So Rufus Wainwright is the father, Lorca Cohen is the mother (who is the daughter of Leonard Cohen), but Rufus Wainwright is gay and is together with his partner of 5 years... but the mother is not a surrogate...

So this is some sort of 3some? I'm not quite sure about how this all works out except a Canadian musical prodigy princess is born.

Does it really matter? On a music forum? It's their personal lives

Well as far as I know it is not possible biologically for two men to have a baby together so I guess they figured since they needed a surrogate anyway, they might as well pick one they're close to and who will be involved in the baby's life.

Surrogate means you're going to give up the baby to another couple. In this situation the surrogate will be the active mother, probably akin to a divorced couple. Just in this case, mom and dad are still friends but dad is engaged to somebody else.

I heard about this on the CBC this morning. I saw Rufus in a small theatre in Seattle a few years back. That was an excellent show. He had Sean Lennon and A Fine Frenzy opening for him.

I would love to see the fruit of Tom Waits loins mate with the progeny of Leonard Cohen. I would even be curious to see what happens if Tom Waits tries to mate with leonard cohen himself.

As far as the actual process involved, unless artificial insemination was used, there must have been a lot of Tequila consumed that night.

I covered Rufus last summer with Nicole Atkins opening. It was one o the strangest shows I have ever been to and I was very much looking forward to it.

No one was allowed to speak or applaud during the first set at all. He came out in total silence wearing a cape and sat behind his piano for 60 minutes without even looking up.
