Prince & The Revolution the glory years for Prince?
Most of his best music came during this period in the early 80's.
Why did they break up? I heard Prince fired Wendy & Lisa.
Will the original lineup ever reunite?
Too bad Prince became kind of a prude by becoming a Jehovah's Witness.

I don't know all the specifics, but I think he broke them up because he wanted a more versatile, funkier band.

Wikipedia has some information, which I think is more or less accurate. The breakup was a combination of things, ranging from some of the band members being unhappy, to Prince wanting to explore new directions with his music.
As for a reunion, there was talk of it some ten years ago, but the planned Roadhouse Garden album never materialised. The Wikipedia article touches on that as well.
Personally, I somewhat prefer New Power Generation in its various incarnations, but then again I also find Prince's post-Revolution output slightly more interesting.

Slightly off topic but years ago didn't Prince talk about forming an all girl band to back him?

Pure speculation of course, but I think he just gets bored doing what he's doing and wants to move on in new directions both musically and personally. Successful or not successful you have to respect that. I was a devoted fanatic back in the day and now I only kind of keep up with his stuff and don't find it very inspiring. I just feel I've moved in different musical directions from him but he's no less an amazing musician than he ever was.
