Re: Favorite all-time song?
Hard to pick just one from this album, Drowning With Land in Sight by The 77s, but I'll go with Cold Cold Night for now.

Lots of great choices in here. Today? Mine would be "One Tree Hill" by U2

Re: Favorite all-time song?
I've got two that I can't choose between...
God Only Knows - Beach Boys California Stars - Wilco & Billy Bragg |
Re: Favorite all-time song?
To me, favorite song is different than what most people are answering, which is their favorite single recording. To me, a favorite song would mean the song itself, separate or distinct from the performance. Say, "My Funny Valentine" or "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." These are songs I love to hear anyone do well, played on nearly any instrument, with nearly any arrangement. But I don't really have a favorite song; the two songs I mentioned are simply two songs I really love. I'm also quite fond of "All the Things You Are", "I've Got You Under My Skin", and "What Is This Thing Called Love?"

Lots of contenders, but I'll have to with my usual answer. Great video, too. I love how the camera gradually changes focus from the fire onto the singer at the opening.
Mine, however, at least at this moment in time would be... The La's - "There She Goes" ...which in my book, is 2:42 of purely perfect pop bliss. |
Re: Favorite all-time song?
The Clash - Complete Control

In that case, I'd go with Someone To Watch Over Me or In My Life. |
Re: Favorite all-time song?
A View To A Kill Duran Duran with John Barry, God dammit I said it...

Re: Favorite all-time song?
I have several contenders. But I'll go with this one:
A Perfect Circle's "3 Libras" <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tWFv5ZoVET8&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tWFv5ZoVET8&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> This song woke me up out of my sleep on about 2 or 3 seperate occasions as I would leave MTV on at night. So powerful. |
Re: Favorite all-time song?
[obligatory] This is an impossible choice [/obligatory]
In terms of a song which conjures up emotion, is powerful and beautifully written... King Crimson - Starless |
Re: Favorite all-time song?
I don't believe I could narrow it down to one.
That being said, this one would be up there: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eSBcElV6p8o&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/eSBcElV6p8o&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
