I love Radiohead (except for Pablo Honey, god that album sucks), but this video is legitimate reinforcement for all those people that just chalk them up to being a bunch of pretentious douche-bags.

Especially when their fans react like this to the parodies:

yeah real funny making a mockery of thom yorke, one of the greatest and most intelligent musicians of our time. Silly people.

Hmmm...maybe I was right about the 'CD' being additional material?

Wow! That alludes to...nothing.

Re: Radiohead LP8 (Possibly Out This Year?!)

Pitchfork gave it a 7.9 which I think is too high.
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/...king-of-limbs/

I would of given it like a 6.3'ish.
I do agree with some comments in the review though..
"Instead, we get eight songs that feel mostly like small but natural evolutions of previously explored directions"
"This is well-worn terrain for Radiohead, and while it continues to yield rewarding results, the band's signature game-changing ambition is missed."

I don't think really anything is pushed outside their comfort zone with this. Yorke's ooohh, ewwws, ahhhs are used in the same way, even the way his lines are sung echoes other previous songs. I would love for him to actually sing songs as a singer again, rather than always using his voice as a secondary instrument. I just really don't get other comments that say they are moving forward with this type of material. It surely isn't pushing Phil Selway to actually drum at all. I guess that gives him more time to make crappy solo albums.

Radiohead getting a 7.9 from Pitchfork is like most other bands getting a 3.0.

Just the fact that it didn't make "Best New Music" is telling. I could easily have seen Pitchfork go the other way and claim this is their best effort. Depends on which way the hipster winds blow.

Re: Radiohead LP8 (Possibly Out This Year?!)

Have listened to this maybe a dozen times. At first I understood the "samey" complaint but after I digested it I can definitely see two distinct sides of the album and all of the tracks, save Morning Mr Magpie seem distinct. Also, I have to recant my earlier comment, this album is perfect at 8 songs and 37 minutes. Yes, they could have used a rocker to break up some of the ballads but I look at this LP not as a grand statement but as an album to put on when you're in a certain mood. I could easily see them releasing a similar album of all traditional song structure "rock" songs.

That being said, the stand out tracks for me are Little by Little, Lotus Flower, Codex, and Seperator.

Re: Radiohead LP8 (Possibly Out This Year?!)

I've listened to it a few more times and now I'm sure it's very weak stuff.

They've run their course as a band I think. There are things I like about 'Codex' and 'Lotus Flower', but the artifice and pretentious nonsense get in the way even there.

'The Bends' will be their apex. Man that's such a fantastic album.

Yeah, I figured they might pull a "Flaming Lips - Embryonic" and rate it really high.
And by the way, "Embryonic" pretty much sucks. I've tried dozens of times, but I can't make it through in one listen.

Yeah I find Embryonic pretty much unlistenable. You find yourself going, "why do I have to try so hard to like this?" and give up. I didn't like their previous album either.

Band covers King of Limbs already.

I can't vouch for how it is, I just started listening.

Not to further hijack the thread, but the challenging nature of Embryonic is why I love it. I was very pleasantly surprised to see them get weird and deeply psychedelic again. For me it is a far better and more rewarding album than At War with the Mystics, which I would rate as their worst post-Transmissions album.

Thom Yorke is taking a beating over his Lotus Flower video. Here's the latest:

Pics of the album are now online.

So the "625 tiny pieces of artwork" is Radiohead's way of saying "a page of stickers."
Hilarious.

The newest track, Staircase, from "The King of Limbs" recording sessions that didn't make it onto the album. I like it alot.
