Nick Jonas and the...New Power Generation?!?

Does anyone else find it weird that 3/4 of Nick Jonas' new band, The Administration, are former members of Prince's New Power Generation? Michael Bland on drums, Tommy Barbarella on keyboards, and Sonny Thompson on guitars.

Not really. People need to pay bills.

Sure, but with all the available musicians out there, it just seems weird to gather up Prince's leavings.

Maybe he considers them to be a lot more than Prince's leavings. They might be personal heroes to him.

I'm not sure if it's weird as much as it is, in some weird way, quite funny.

I didn't know this, so thanks for the info!

I actually think it's kinda cool he gives the band a bit of recognition when he easily could have just credited this project as 'Nick Jonas' and treated them like anonymous session musicians acknowledged only in liner notes (which have even less recognition in the digital era).

Of note is that John Fields who is a member of the new band produced the Jonas Brothers albums. Fields also produced Soul Asylum's last album and occasionaly plays bass for them. Michael Bland is the drummer for Soul Asylum and this band.

Sure didn't work out for Dennis Rodman or Dave Navarro.

Wendy & Lisa have actually worked steadily for years doing movie and television scores, as well as working with other artists. They actually just put out a new album recently.

I don't care for the Jonas Brothers and this video isn't all that great, BUT I will say that if I had a young kid who wanted to listen to them, I'd prefer it a million times over some crap like New Kids On The Block.
