Today's soundtrack has been. . .
As of now, for the 3rd time this year, I have a new #1 favorite album of the 2009. Can't stop listening to it, love every second. The XX, go check it out now, hooked me right from the intro...

Absolutely diggin' the shit out of . . .

Rockin' my balls off to . .

School of Seven Bells - My Cabal
I was wandering around downtown Chicago today with this on my iPod - it was the perfect soundtrack for getting lost amongst the skyscrapers on a late summer/early fall day. Lovely.
Also:

Pop Levi - Never Never Love
Sunny Day Real Estate - LP2 [2009 Remaster]
The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band [Mono]

"My Cabal" specifically sounds like 'Loveless' updated for the new decade:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yw_WcaZZj0o&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yw_WcaZZj0o&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
There's much more to the album than that, but I find this song especially haunting and gorgeous. I'm going to see them next month in NYC and can't wait!
I cannot recommend the album highly enough.

It's good, but quite different from Emotionalism. The production is a lot slicker this time out and it really pulls out the drums (which were minimal or non-existent on Emotionalism). There's a lot of piano and organ as well, making some songs teeter on Ben Folds Five territory.
Still, the harmonies are still there and it's still catchy.

, but thanks for the review, just getting into them and wanted to know where to start.
