70's scorpions...why arent they given credit?
why arent the scorpions given credit in the metal world? in the 70's you couldnt find much heavier and faster or better solos. they were metal. why no love for them? was it because of wind of change?

They got worldwide fame, very rich, they are a household name as to bands.
How exactly did they miss out on 'credit'?
GREAT live show in the 80's, I still remember that show.

I think the OP's use of 'credit' is wrong. 'Lasting presence' is probably more appropriate.

The original poster is talking about the 1970's version of the band, which didn't hit it big in the U.S. - and the albums from that era are rarely discussed despite their high quality.

I guess since the Scorpions peaked in the 80s, they are thought to belong more with the 80s hair metal bands rather than the 70s metal pioneers like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Judas Priest also falls into this category as they formed in 1970 and had several classic albums in the early-mid 70s but peaked in 1980-82.

One thing about the 70s is you didn't have to have a hit album or song to be on a major record label. List is a mile long of bands that popped out albums year after year that went unnoticed until BAM! they're a hit. Most times it seems the earlier unknown stuff was the best. Some never became big but continued to churn out album after album for a major label. Nazareth had three killer albums, I think the best ones, before Hair of the Dog. The first four Foghat cream their breakthrough, Fool For The City and anything that followed. Most people think bands like REO and Styx don't hold up well these days, check out their first 3-4 albums, the good ones released when they were still playing the occasional high school auditorium.

Maybe the OP miss Uli Roth playing for them. His best work was on Fly To The Rainbow album IMO. My favorite song of his. Obviously he was heavy influnced by Hendrix.

Have always loved the Scorpions and still listen to them today. Although I just heard Animal Magnetism for the first time and feel like a loser that I had never listened to it before.

I love the Scorpions, too, but admit that I'm not quiet as fond of their earlier work with Uli Roth. I think it has more to do with not really discovering the band until after his departure. By the time I got into them, Matthias Jabs (and Michael Schenker, although briefly) had already replaced him on Lovedrive and that is the sound of the band I liked and associated with.
Going back and listening to the earlier albums after that, I just wasn't getting the same vibe. I liken it to listening to early Rush, particularly the first few albums, as opposed to hearing them for the first time from Permanent Waves onward. It just barely sounds like the same band. Most of the pieces were there, the just weren't in the proper places yet to form the sound picture I was looking for. But that's just me. Doesn't mean I haven't since grown some respect and appreciation for the earlier works, though.

Never said better. More to the point, I was implying that it was different. Comparison wise, though, 1979 on is around the same time that both bands adjusted their sound and started having their greatest commercial success. Whether someone finds that a good or bad thing is completely subjective to the listener.

Being a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/Hair Metal fan i love just about everything the Scorpions have done over there 30 plus years, there 70's era material to me personally is excellent and i've always thought they got the credit they deserved, even to this day i hear them on the radio like crazy, whether it is 70's or 80's material, i wish they would get a little more play from there newer stuff, for example there 2004 album "Unbreakable" IMO is freaking great, and there follow up album 2007's "Humanity Hour 1" is also great.
The first 30 seconds into this are freaking amazing...Great Song
Scorpions - This Time - from 2004's Unbreakable...

I'm a fan of the Scorpions too
I like a lot of their older stuff like Virgin Killer
Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Lovedrive, In Trance, etc.

It probably took the better part of a decade for them to distance themselves from the "Virgin Killer" album cover. Once everyone forgot about that atrocity, they could finally be taken seriously.
