Re: New Depeche Mode
the album is growing on me more, took long enough, LOL!!!

Re: New Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode had a much better performance onthe Jools Holland show than Jimmy Kimmel. Just do a search on YouTube for their "Come Back" and "Walking in My Shoes" performances. Also, apparently, Elton John is now a member of the group...

Re: New Depeche Mode
Bad news. "Sounds of the Universe" drops from #3 to #24 this week. With about 11.3K sold. Which is horrible. Down from around 81K. But this is happening to most artists. It's just amazing how little music is selling. Also, the number new #1 album is the latest from Bob Dylan.Debuting at the top with currently a projected number of 75K. That's 5K less than what DM debuted at, at #3, just last week. 75K at number #1 !?? The music industry is DEAD!

Re: New Depeche Mode
well, Hits is still only at 76%, there might be some changes between now and tomorrow. I know yesterday Hits projected a 23-30k second week, so you never know what might happen

Re: New Depeche Mode
Tonight was the Luxmbourg warm up show. Apparently it was a great success. And just check out the play list for this tour. Some old classics are back after nearly 18 years:
Spoiler:

Re: New Depeche Mode
That's a lot more from SOFAD than I would have expected.
|
Re: New Depeche Mode
Man that play-list is killer I can't wait to see them!
On side-note finally caught that second-night show of Later Live with Jools Holland dam they were so sharp. |

Re: New Depeche Mode
I like that there's four Black Celebration tracks
|
Re: New Depeche Mode
Be aware that one setlist basically means all setlists..they rarely change them up (other than 1-2 songs)

Ravenous Those tracks (The B-Sides) are on the Sounds Of The Universe-Deluxe Box Set "disc 2".).
On the B-Sides Topic, Ive been buying the remasters with DVDs and I always loved My Joy, Sea of Sin, Happiest Girl, etc. But the DVDs only have a remix of Happiest G that Ive never heard. I have a bootleg with an "orbital" mix that I love, where was that available? Nice set list! I wish I could catch mode live. And SOFAD kicks ass! Just leave out condimation and you got a perfect album. |

The names of the Sea Of Sin and Happiest Girl versions are kind of confusing because the standard original versions have mix names. The original versions of SOS are the Tonal Mix (7") and Sensoria Mix (12"). The HG originals are the Jack Mix (7") and the Kiss-A-Mix (12"). Kind of strange, if you have any other questions, let me know. Jon |
Re: New Depeche Mode
I'll be happy with that setlist. There are a few songs in there that I've heard haven't been performed in a very long time and which are in high demand by the fans. WIMS was excellent on the Jools show, so I'm looking forward to that but they do seem to like to perform those songs from SOFAD a lot. I would've liked to see more songs from their last album.
I've seen videos and pictures of the set. If you see a still of it, it looks unimpressive compared to their last tour and SOFAD. But with the videos in motion, it looks pretty sweet, and there is one thing that seems really weird but it does work. |

what is it that you think looks weird? (I haven't seen any pics or videos from this stage set up yet) |

The "orbital" mix you mention was actually mixed by The Orb, not Orbital. There is the standard "Pulsating Orbital Mix" which was widely available on cd single and 12", and a promo 12" with a longer, unedited version. There is also the "Pulsating Orbital Vocal Mix" which was only on the Limited CD single (LCD Bong 20).

Re: New Depeche Mode
Yes, I have all the tracks from the WIME single in their original format and mp3. The only mp3 I don't have is the extended promo version of the Pulsating Orbital Mix, but I do have the promo 12" that it's on. I just haven't gotten around to ripping it yet, but that is in my near future. If it's DM you are looking for, you found the right person. :D Hit me up!
Here is the Promo 12" I was referring to: http://www.discogs.com/Depeche-Mode-...release/339070 |
Re: New Depeche Mode
They definitely are not a band who digs deep into their catalog for live shows. Even the old stuff are the obvious singles. Waiting For The Night is the only thing that qualifies as deep.

I wish they would play "Lie To Me" again live that would make my year.
And what happen to "Halo" that's a must for any live-show! |

They always play about 5-7 songs off each new album on each tour. And at the time, most aren't planned singles. But for a band who have been around for nearly 30 years, they need to play mostly singles to please their fans. I know they hate "Strangelove". So this is most definitely for the fans. They also HATE "Just Can't Get Enough". But they played that on the last two tours for the fans too.

I think it's vice versa. I know two people who have been DM fans for 25 years who couldn't be less interested in this setlist, it's the same songs they've heard the last few tours and are bored with them.
Bands like that are actually good for my wallet. There are quite a few of them who I have seen once or twice, and I never feel the need to see them again because of song repetition. |
