Speak and Spell only feels generic because of how many synth pop albums have come out since 1980. But at the time the album was pretty revolutionary.
I always preferred Some Great Reward over Black Celebration, although the latter is still among their best. You really can't go wrong with any song they released from 1984-1990, as other have said. |

Well said. You know, "SGR" was THE album that summer amongst my group of friends. We played it all the time and you heard it everywhere (that I went). And it was the album that really made me a huge fan of the band. But the Black Celebration tour was the first time I saw DM live which is the reason why that album and time really stands out for me. They went from being one of my favorite bands to my favorite. That concert changed everything.

Another live DVD is on the way, from the "SOTU" tour. Filmed in Barcelona on both nights. Should be out on about the third week of March.
