Re: New Depeche Mode
So having listened to the song, I will have to say that it is pretty rocking, very old school feel to it (lots of boops and bleeps). Gone are the guitars and drums of more recent work. It is also pretty catchy, and after a few more listens I think I will really start to dig it.

That song is awesome! Can't wait to hear the whole album.

HA! Good luck my friend. L.A. is the hardest U.S. city to get tickets for their show. Do you have any connections? If not, would you be willing to shell out extra $$$ to go to one of those legal ticket brokers? None of my friends in Southern California have been able to get tickets without going to one. Hell, I go to one here in D.C. just to get in the first few rows. Worth every cent. I've seen these guys since "Black Celebration". And it's true what they say. Depeche Mode fans just don't go see them in concert, they go to church.

I'm not looking for front row seats. I just want to see them. Are you saying I won't be able to get tickets by buying them right when they go on sale? |

Re: New Depeche Mode
I've gotten good to great seats via TM for San Diego, OC and LA since the Songs of Faith and Devotion tours...no worse than most other "hot" bands...

Re: New Depeche Mode
This is pretty cool.
Essentially you pay $19 for the album and anything else Depeche Mode release on iTunes between now and June 19th. That should mean a couple of singles, and they usually do tons of remixes. EMI Music announced today that they have launched the first 'iTunes Pass', providing automatic downloads of all releases from a given artist within a specific time period. The first artist available under this program is Depeche Mode, with the current iTunes Pass [iTunes] available at a cost of $18.99 and good through June 16th, 2009. The first iTunes Pass debuts today in conjunction with Depeche Mode's forthcoming 12th studio album, Sounds of the Universe, to be released on April 21 in the US. Fans who sign up starting today get the alternative/dance pioneers' new single, Wrong, as well as the Black Light Odyssey Dub Remix of the new track Oh Well. They will also receive the new album on its street date plus great music and video exclusives before and after the album's release over the next fifteen weeks. The Depeche Mode iTunes Pass can be purchased starting today for $18.99. According to Apple's information document on iTunes Pass [iTunes], all music is delivered in DRM-free iTunes Plus format, and while the contents of a given pass are not necessarily fully outlined at the time of purchase and are subject to change over time, the price of the pass will not exceed the value of the contents offered. Apple also discloses on their iTunes Store Terms of Service that, unless otherwise specified, all content must be downloaded within 90 days after the end of the pass period. |
Re: New Depeche Mode
It would suck if they release everything on June 17th.

Re: New Depeche Mode
I happen to have $18 in iTunes credit, so I will give this a try.
Edit: Apparently they're not selling it yet. It's listed, but I see no way to purchase it. |
Re: New Depeche Mode
You guys see the official video? That was a little darker than I expected.

Re: New Depeche Mode
I am going to be in Vegas by chance on the 22nd....DM plays in vegas on the 22nd :)
Coincendence? I think not! |
Re: New Depeche Mode
Like that single. Not a HUGE DM fan, but my wife is. Tickets for the Toronto show go on sale JUST before her birthday, so I think that's a no-brainer.

and, frankly, I'm glad... I live in Olympia and, though the Gorge is a great venue, as I get older, the trip is just too much. I think the Exciter show was the last time I was there for anything! (Either that or Moby's Area One show with New Order.... whichever was later.) EDIT: Just looked at http://depechemode.com/tour.html ... it lists Key Arena as the venue. On sale 3/21. -- Garrett |
Re: New Depeche Mode
I saw them at the Gorge during the Exciter tour, and what I remember mostly was Gahan saying "It's fucking COLD" after the sun went down. That was coming from a European...

Re: New Depeche Mode
Just listened to WRONG, and it could be the best thing Depeche Mode has done since SONGS OF FAITH AND DEVOTION. PLAYING THE ANGEL had some very good tunes on it, but also some not so great stuff. EXCITER was even weaker, with really only two stand-out songs.
I am SO looking forward to picking this up in 6 weeks! |
Re: New Depeche Mode
Is anyone finding any other listings for that limited edition? I don't really want to pay 60 pounds if I can avoid it.

Re: New Depeche Mode
Must say although i'm a long time 'Devotee' i was initially angling towards going against the grain in that i wasn't overly keen on the new single when i first heard it...but have to say it is growing on me!!!

Re: New Depeche Mode
wait I'm confused there are three editions:
CD CD w/DVD-Audio 5.1 Deluxe Box Set on the box set what exactly is Disc 3? Amazon lists: Disc: 3 1. Little 15 2. Clean 3. Sweetest Perfection 4. Walking in My Shoes 5. I Feel You 6. Judas 7. Surrender 8. Only When I Lose Myself 9. Nothing\x{2019}s Impossible 10. Corrupt 11. Peace 12. Jezebel 13. Come Back 14. In Chains but the only way to hear the album in 5.1 is if you buy the CD/DVD version, which implies the 5.1 mix is exclusive to... right? |
