Re: Amazon MP3 Album DOTD Thread (part two)

I picked up the Joshua Radin album tonight - I'll get $1.99 worth of listens out of it.

Had a question though - my Amazon downloader doesn't clear out the old music after it downloads the albums. Since I started using Amazon downloads, which was only a few weeks ago, I've downloaded the No Doubt album, K'Naan album, and now the Joshua Radin album ($1.99 each). Tonight, it tried *again* to download the K'Naan and No Doubt albums before getting to the Radin album. I can't seem to clear the No Doubt & K'Naan albums out of the downloader even though I already have the music on my computer. For what it's worth, those albums are no longer available at that price but it goes through each and every song before *finally* getting to the Radin album.

The following is a link to a picture of my desktop while this is going on. At the point of the screen capture, it had tried K'Naan and No Doubt (but both failed, song by song) and was doing the Radin album.

Any ideas?

SHIT! I totally bought Incredibad last weekend because I figured it wouldn't appear as a DOTD on Amazon. They don't do price adjustments on digital content do they? From what I've read, they don't do price adjustments at all anymore.

Shoot them an email and see. I've got them to do it after the new policy. Never tried on a digital download though.

I would contact customer service. They've been pretty responsive through email. Be sure to send that picture with your email.

I would give it a shot since it is Amazon. You may get lucky and find a CSR who is willing to adjust the price. I managed to get a refund on a music download at Amazon once over a pricing problem. They increased the price on me in the middle of a music purchase and I contacted customer service requesting a refund for the difference. I should clarify customer service ended up giving me a credit that I could use on future music downloads, and not an actual refund to my credit card. Whenever I made a purchase I was easily able to apply the credit to each purchase until I used it up.

Have you tried uninstalling Amazon Downloader and then reinstalling it?

Thanks for the suggestions - Amazon's customer service said to delete all cookies and all temporary files - I have, but can't really test it since I am not ready to buy another album yet. Maybe it has something to do with my popup blocker? I'll have to set it to accept all popups / downloads from Amazon.

And that Joshua Radin album for $1.99 - very nice. If you like singer/songwriter/folk type of music, give it a listen.

If there is nothing you want to buy at the moment you could test it by downloading some of the free music that Amazon has available.

I had a Barenaked Ladies song that was free that got stuck in my queue. Here is what I just did to get rid of it:

Opened the Amazon MP3 Downloader
Let it try to download the other tracks again, and fail
Clicked Clear Completed
It will ask you if you want to clear the errored songs, say Yes

I think that did the trick - I hadn't previously told it to clear completed.

And the Bo Fo Sho (deal of the day) - it's interesting. If you like comedic music, you would like this.

Re: Amazon MP3 Album DOTD Thread (part two)

Tuesday 3/10 - Scream (Amazon Exclusive Version) by Chris Cornell $2.99

Great deal on a brand new release.

edit: Though reading reviews, this album isn't well recieved at all. Seems like Timbaland and Cornell aren't a good fit to many reviewers. Will have to think this one over, even at this insanely cheap price....

either way, I love the idea of a cheap new album every Tuesday. Keep it up, Amazon!

Re: Amazon MP3 Album DOTD Thread (part two)

After reading reviews, I had zero interest in the Cornell album. For $3, though, it's hard not to give it a listen out of curiosity. Clever bastards.

Re: Amazon MP3 Album DOTD Thread (part two)

I've listened to the preview clips at Amazon (have to wait until I get home to purchase).

The music is not bad at all, and songs sound decent to me. I don't think his voice sounds bad with the style at all, but I realize it will be difficult for many to accept Cornell's signature style with non-rock music. When I listen to it I'm just going to try and forget it's Cornell and focus on what I'm hearing.

Re: Amazon MP3 Album DOTD Thread (part two)

Damn, in for Kweller too. I've always been opposed to buying things digitally instead of just snagging the album, so I hadn't clicked on this thread until last week. This is how all downloads should be sold. It's ludicrous to pay $10 - $12 for a download when I can buy the CD for about the same price. I can suck it up and deal with not having a physical copy of an album if I'm only paying $2 or $3 though.

I almost bought that this weekend, but decided to wait a little bit because it seemed like exactly the type of thing Amazon would do for a DOTD. I'm really glad they don't cancel the previous deal as soon as a new one goes up, because I just saw this and would've missed out.
