6/6 (Friday): Attack & Release by the Black Keys
Friday 5 ($5 each, valid until 6/9): In Rainbows by Radiohead Dreaming Out Loud by OneRepublic Accelerate by R.E.M. Hotel California by Eagles Volume One by She & Him (BIG ups to Jay G. for finding 4/5ths of this list yesterday!) |
Accelerate (Bonus Tracks) by R.E.M. - $9.99 R.E.M. completists may want to get that one instead. If you already have the standard release, either MP3 or CD, you can download the bonus tracks individually for an extra $4.95. (BIG ups to Jay G. for finding 4/5ths of this list yesterday!) Appetite For Destruction [Explicit] by Guns N' Roses - $2.99 Waves And The Both Of Us [Explicit] by Charlotte Sometimes - $5.99 Schoenberg: Violin Concerto / Sibelius: Violin Concerto op.47 by Hilary Hahn - $2.99 |
In addition to their normal selection of free singles, Amazon is offering a bunch of free jazz tunes as part of Black Musician Month. The choices include Miles Davis, Coleman Hawkins and John Coltrane. Some of these are 15 minute long jam sessions, so real good value for your money.
In addition, I noticed there are a bunch of live Coltrane albums that are 50+ minutes in length, but because they only have three or four tracks they're selling under $4: The Complete Graz Concert CD2 - $2.67 (CD1 isn't available) Live in Stockholm - $3.56 At Birdland - $3.56 <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Live-In-Antibes-1965/dp/B000S553T0/ref=dm_ap_alb1">Live in Antibes</a> - $1.78 (and the album's over an hour in length) |

A few more deals: Not Too Late by Norah Jones - $3.99 Holst: The Planets by Geffrey Simon, London Symphony Orchestra - $2.98 Get Rich Or Die Tryin' [Explicit] by 50 Cent - $5.99 Really Rosie by Carole King - $5.59 (Appears to be available on CD in only expensive imports or OOP editions.) Finally, if anyone likes those "Nature Sounds" CDs, AmazonMP3 has a few of those albums that consist of only one +60min track for 89 or 99 cents: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QJV3LK/ |

6/8 (Sunday): Appetite For Destruction [Explicit] by Guns N' Roses - $2.99 |
can someone answer?
Does Soundscan/Billboard count Amazon mp3 sales like they do iTunes? They have a number of titles that I bet are moving a lot of downloads for $3-5. If 3000 people download GNR for $2.99, would that count for 3000 sales on Billboard Catalog, or not since it's Amazon mp3 and not iTunes DRM? |
why does that matter? Just as long as the artist gets paid.

http://www.soundscan.com/faq.html Who reports sales to Nielsen SoundScan and is there a list of reporting Retailers available? Nielsen SoundScan collects point-of-sales information from Retail, Mass Merchant, Independent Retail, Internet Retail sites, Venues, Mail Order and Digital Download providers. Due to confidentiality agreements with our information providers, we cannot supply a list of reporting stores or web sites. So the short answer is: nobody knows. It's not even guaranteed that they count iTunes sales. ..or not since it's Amazon mp3 and not iTunes DRM? |

The deal I found today: Hard Candy by Madonna - $3.99 |
nice deal...thanks for the update.

I've ended up buying a lot of these even though I very little interest in most. If, someday, the music industry were to drastically lower prices like this all around, I'd be a broke man very quickly because I'd be buying everything.

It's not even guaranteed that they count iTunes sales. It's doubtful that their criteria for online sales has anything to do with DRM. I have always been interested in keeping up on Soundscan with both artists I love and even ones I have no interest in because I generally like to see what certain albums are selling, especially catalog titles. Some of these albums like REM and Madonna are still reasonably new, so I could see huge weeks for those two for instance since albums usually sell well when they have a really good sale at Best Buy or Target or something, and to buy a 2 month old R.E.M. or Madonna album (and even that Colbie Callet cd that was the DOTD a few weeks ago is pretty current too) for less than $4 should do wonders for sales. |

6/10 (Tuesday): The Leak by Lil' Wayne - $0.99

Great finds. Keep 'em coming. Nothing for me yet, but it seems it's only a matter of time before something piques my interest.
|
Is there a place on Amazon where you are finding this? Or do you find them by looking for certain artists?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers...N9SP9K87NZK8J4 Amazon also has a deals page, listing some of their deals, along with DOTD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...rd_i=163856011 For example, scrolling through top album downloads again right now, I found this deal appeared on the charts: Jagged Little Pill Acoustic by Alanis Morissette - $5.00 I'm guessing other Amazon users, looking for Alanis Morissette, found the deal first and have been buying it, thus sending it into the charts. |
Thanks Jay G.
I don't know how to do the fancy link thing, but... Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys part 1 (remastered) is $6.99. Gamma Ray's Land of the Free Part 2 $7.99 Avantasia - The Scarecrow - $5.99 Decent prices on those. |
I forgot, but there's also, on the main Amazon MP3 page, links to various price ranges of album downloads. Clicking the "Under $4.99" link, you'll miss any $5 deals, and you'll have to scroll through a lot of underwhelming EPs and singles, but you can find deals like these:
Rocket Man - Number Ones by Elton John - $1.99 What Am I Doing in New Jersey? [Explicit] by George Carlin - $3.96 A Christmas Together by John Denver & The Muppets - $4.47 These Tangerine Dream albums are considerably cheaper than their CD counterparts, due to having extremely long tracks: Live Miles by Tangerine Dream $1.98 Alpha Centauri by Tangerine Dream - $3.96 Atem by Tangerine Dream - $3.96 Green Desert by Tangerine Dreamrice: - $3.96 Zeit by Tangerine Dream - $3.96 Tangram by Tangerine Dream - $4.58 Electronic Meditation by Tangerine Dream - $4.95 Also found: Speed Reading Techniques - How to Read Three Books Per Day by Speed Reading Institute - $2.97 |
