I love these deals, Does anyone know if there is a way to get digital booklets for these? ALso I like that they keep the prices for a few days.

This thread has got my interest piqued. I signed up for the Amazon MP3 store. I'm new to buying digital music online. What is the main difference between Amazon and iTunes? If any.

The main difference is that the files are in MP3 format, which has no DRM, so you can play them on anything you damn well please. :)

To add to what's already been said, Amazon's MP3s are encoded at 256 kbps, while iTunes encodes at 128 kbps. Some people might not hear much of a difference, therefore it's a moot point for them. I notice the difference, and it's one of the reasons I've switched to buying from Amazon.

There is a difference between 128 kbps AAC and 128 kbps MP3.

Whatever the differences, they're still both crap. 256 AAC may be superior to 256 MP3, but iTunes doesn't offer much in terms of 256 AAC -- the real choice is 128 AAC and 256 MP3, and it's no contest which is better.

I like the deals amazon has daily and on the weekends. I've picked up a lot of good cheap music this way. It's a nice way to round out different parts of your collection.

I would avoid this one because of severe song editing. Three of the better songs on album have significant portions missing. The Joker, Jet Airliner, and Fly Like an Eagle have about a minute or more removed from the original cuts. I used to own the album on cassette and was always very annoyed by the editing whenever I played it. I can't believe the studio is still selling the album with the butchered songs on it.

DaveWadding 09-05-08 03:01 PM

I (personally) dont mind the single version cause that's what they play on the radio usually.

kefrank 09-05-08 10:55 PM

I'm in for Gulag Orkestar and Pink Flag! I love this thread. Thanks Dave!

Seriously, iTunes has better come up with a plan to compete with Amazon. I've bought more music through Amazon this past month, then I have with iTunes entirely!
