If they did end up removing some of the new material, I hope they replace it with other rarities than bringing back Closer to the Heart.

Agreed. You know, I think I posted this before but I read an interview with Geddy years ago and they were asking him how the band chooses their tour setlists. Geddy basically said that first and foremost they choose material that they enjoy playing live or that has some special place for them....after that they choose fan faves and such.
When I first read this years ago, I thought, wow that sucks. But I was young and I didn't understand. I think I understand where he's coming from now that I'm older.

I've seen them a couple of times, with the last time being their September 23rd show in Toronto. I heard that they're coming back here this summer, so I'm sure I'll go. They're great live.

I got my tickets in the mail today. Now I am excited and officialy counting the days until the show. It is going to be awesome. The first and last time I saw them was in West Palm Beach on December 8th of 96. Anyone else on here happen to be at that show?

Actually, sitting back a few rows is better for groups like RUSH since they put on a full show with Screens and all. Plus, it's not like any of them are hot chicks who you'd want to see up close.

Having worked concert/sporting venues I've come to realize that center seats are more important to me than close seats. I'd rather sit a few rows back towards the center then be up close but off to the side.

Of course, I may be biased because I got 5th row tickets for Rush from the pre-sale

The stage show isn't worth suffering thru worse seats. Really it is just big screens which are needed for the people with shitty seats so they can actually see the band. It is much better to sit close and see the band for 3 hours than sit further back just so you can see the green lasers during one song.

Hey, whatever makes you happy.
Mind you, my opinion of concert seating has nothing to do with not being able to score up close seats. I've sat up close and have stood in pits for many big shows including RUSH during my 25+ years of concert going.
I guess as I get older I realize I've been there done that.

Just ordered 3 tickets for the 7/22/08 show in Atlanta. Don't think I've seen them live since their "Hold Your Balls" tour at the Omni (which doesn't exist anymore in downtown Atlanta, replaced by Philips Arena). They are playing at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre that opening up in a few months, so that'll be neat to check out a new place.
I'm going to have to get acquainted with their newer material between now and the concert date.
I think the older I get, the more I care about retaining what hearing I have left, so sitting further back doesn't bother me as much as it did in my youth.
Does anyone know if Rush is cool with people bringing regular digital cameras to snap a few shots of them while playing? Some acts prohibits digital cameras, but other acts are cool with it. I understand the "no recording" prohibition, of course.

I'm going to see them next Saturday 4/26. Has anyone seen them on this new tour? What is the set list for this year?

They only changed three songs and there is a new video to start the second half of the show... I'm a bit disappointed. I'll be in Oklahoma City that day as well, if I can get a good seat at the box office then I will go, if not oh well!

Spoiler:
I was slightly disappointed, since I thought they would revamp the setlist more than they did, but I cannot say I am sorry I went. It was a great show. Neil's solo is better than it has ever been, and the one song I didn't totally love on the last leg (besides Summertime Blues), Spindrift, played a lot better this time around.
Also, the other cool thing about this leg is that the audience is definitely more appreciative of the Snakes and Arrows material than during the first leg. Someone mentioned some of the applause being "polite" at the time. Maybe that was true, but this time the crowd really responded tremendously to MMB, WTA, Far Cry, and Hope.

One of my buddies sat front row last night. I passed since I saw them last year and didn't want to pay $120 to see basically the same fucking set.
Last year's stop was my favorite Rush show yet, mainly because of the setlist, although I think the drum solo isn't nearly as good as they have been in the past. Most of it seems to be retreads of old drum solos, tweaked a little, and the new elements aren't very interesting, especially the part in the middle with the electronic drums. I'll take the 2-3 minute drum solo from Exit Stage Left over these 8 minute drum solos.
But most of the old material sounds pretty good when they play it now. A Passage To Bangkok sounds pretty crappy on this tour, but much of the other stuff is spot-on.

As for the reaction to the Snakes and Arrows material, people have had a chance to digest it more. The album definitely grows on you over time.

A buddy of mine scored some killer "Comp" tix for this Thursday's show in LA at Nokia. So this plus Sunday's show at Verizon in Irvine means I'm seein' them twice this week.

My same buddy who somehow always ends up with front row tickets ended up winning Meet N Greet passes for Las Vegas. Of course it didn't include a ticket to the show, so he didn't think the cost of flying to and staying in Vegas plus the cost of a ticket was worth it for a picture with Geddy and Neil.
