First album you ever bought? First CD?
My first album was dual purchase in 1979: Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes, and Kiss - Rock & Roll Over. Oh well, one for two.
First CD purchase was Rush - Permanent Waves in 1981. I don't even like Rush, but it was the only DVD that "Musicland" (the now defunct chain in my crappy small town mall) had and my father had purchased a player so I had to try it out. |
Beach Boys - All Summer Long(Vinyl) in the late 60's
|
first tape i ever purchased was debbie gibson's "electric youth", while the first CD i ever purchased was silverchair's "frogstomp"
yeah, i know. that makes me feel pretty young. |
First CD - I don't know. Either Faith No More's "The Real Thing" or Anthrax's "Persistance of Time"
|

First cd was The Black Crowes debut. |
First tape - I think it was a Run DMC tape
First CD(s) - Use Your Illusion I & II |
Album (c. 1973) - don't remember. It might have been a Jim Croce album, or maybe a Beatles album. Or maybe Jesus Christ Superstar.
CD (c. 1988) - a collection of Mozart string quartets. |
First LP: Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan
First Cassette: Quiet Riot - Metal Health First CD: Led Zep II and Metallica - And Justice For All |
Interesting. So far I think the winners for best debut CD purchases are ken_572002 with the Allman Brothers, and EdTheRipper with one of the most solid CDs of all time: The Black Crowes -Shake Your Money Maker.

First 45 = The Monkees - "Last Train To Clarksville" First 8-Track = Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak First Cassette Tape = Alice Cooper - The Alice Cooper Show Live |

First album - Police - Synchronicity
First tape - Def Leppard - Pyromania First CDs - Debbie Gibson - Out of the Blue / Electric Youth All of them were gifts from my parents along with a record player, tape player and CD player respectively. I've got no clue what the first albums were that I personally bought, though. |
My first CD was Metallica - Black album

First CD: Boyz II Men: II
I don't recall ever buying a tape. I know I bought a few dozen blank tapes to make mix tapes. I've never bought a record or 8-track. |
First Album: Jackson Browne - Running on Empty (received as a gift, I can't remember the first album I actually bought but I never bought that many)
First 8-Track: Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell First CD: Freedom Rock (compilation CDs from the TV commercial - "is that Freedom Rock?" "Yeah man". "Well, turn it up!") |
