The Winner Takes It All (ABBA) - that's f'ed up

The group was still together at the time, when this song was released to the world, in 1980. From my understanding, two of the key band members got a divorce the year before, and anybody who has been unfortunate enough to get divorced knows that it is a painful situation. However, these people managed to keep a singing group together, and they put out this bittersweet, sad song.

I can't figure how they did it, and did it so bloody well. How could they have sung it without breaking down into tears?

I dunno, ask the members of Fleetwood Mac how they put together a full album in those conditions. Or how the White Stripes got their groove going.

funny thing is that ABBA also did "Knowing Me, Knowing You" back when both couples were happily together, and that was a pretty upsetting breakup song also

Shit, listen to Abba's "One Of Us." One of my favorite break-up songs.

I suspect a pattern here.
