Yeah, I downloaded it over the weekend. Really good. Will get it at Best Buy today for $7.99. No real clunkers in the bunch, though that song that is a ripoff of "I Hate Myself For Loving You" kind of bugs me. The production/sound/mix of the album is really, really good.

Saw them play a free show at the beach last Sunday. Got a drumstick! It was filmed, though I don't know who filmed it. Cameras all over the place. Would've been nice if they hung out and talked with the fans, but they just went back to the bus and stayed there.

Cool! I'm jealous as they are not playing Nashville on this leg of their tour. Odd: they usually hang out with the fans after the show. Yeah, I noticed that the one song had parts that sounded like Joan's "I Hate Myself For Loving You".

Bought it today, havent listened to it though.

Did anyone by chance buy the vinyl and feel like sharing their extra bonus track?

FYI, when buying the new CD, be on the lookout for the following sticker on the front of the CD

"LIMITED EDITION PACKAGE - contains a promo code for bonus tracks not included on this album".

Inside is a ticket with a code allowing you to get free downloads from The Donnas website, and you've got a whole year to take advantage of it, too. Haven't had a chance to see what they are yet, though.

I don't know if they have these at all store - I got mine at a local indie store (for the same price as Best Buy, without having to price match) - but they're out there.

I bought it yesterday, and love it. Songs seem more catchy and melodic.

It's weird. The Donnas always get mediocre reviews right out of the gate. For some reason, reviewers seem to take a lot of pleasure pointing out that they're derivative, vapid, lacking in a creative vision and so forth. But the albums tend to wear well over time. The initial experience reveals the homage riffs but repeats lead to discovering a depth that a lot of casual listeners seem to miss. I'm a huge Donnas fan and even I was a little disappointed by my first couple of spins of Bitchin'. However, as usual, the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it. The disc has a lot more depth than the mainstream is giving it credit for. I'm seeing them tonight in Portland and then again in Austin Texas in October. They always put on a great show. I'm excited to see how they approach these new songs in the live format.

This is why I hate pre-ordering. It's freakin' Friday and I still haven't received it yet. Didn't know it was being released on vinyl. I'll be looking for that this weekend.

Emusic.com has it, and here's a link for 100 free downloads.

This is a legitimate, legal site, so no worries.

Awesome show last night! The crowd was very into it and the band just scorched through the set. Can't wait to see them in TX at the end of the tour.

initial impressions: I'm a little more than 1/2 way through and I'm a little dissappointed. It's feels as though the energy has been drained away. It's too slow. It's almost like the record player is set for the wrong speed. Gonna have to give it a few more spins throughout the week and see if it grows on me.

Amel, give it some time. Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's growing on me. What's weird for me, is that almost every song has a really good hook in it, that one little part after the 2nd chorus or wherever, that makes the song for me.

Yeah, I had the same experience. Initially disappointed by it but it grew on me by the third spin or so and now I think it's really an excellent album.

Cool! Did they play many songs from the new album? I'm really getting into the songs "Give Me What I Want", "Girl Talk", and "Smoke You Out".

Thanks for the article. Those were the rumors I had heard a while back. The state of major labels and what is played on "popular" radio these days makes me sick.

Didn't like the CD at first, but it has now grown on me like a wild virus and I cannot stop playing it now. Great stuff, I LOVE "Smoke You Out" I can't stop hitting repeat.

That's not surprising at all. Major labels have been destroying the music industry for a few decades now. I'm glad the girls had the courage to split and start their own thing.

"The first albums were so ghetto, but we always wanted to sound better. People assume they were done that way on purpose, but we really just couldn't afford the equipment or recording studios."
But I love those first records! I thought they sounded great, especially Get Skintight - not too ghetto, not too polished, a perfect balance. That's still the record I use today when I introduce people new to The Donnas.

Bitchin' is already growing on me. I listened to it a second time and it seems like everything is gonna be ok!

Yeah, they played a bunch of songs from the new album. About half of them, Girls Talk included. They also went all the way back to Skintight for some too.

I loved Spend the Night. Haven't tried anything else since then though. If they ever come to the Phily/ Atlantic City area, I'm all over it.

They're touring with the Hives currently. Don't have dates, just know that the 9:30 club date is sold out already.
