This is strange. I was just looking yesterday to see if Richard Ashcroft had another disappointing solo album coming out soon and now today I see this! I'm cautiously excited. I'll have to think about taking a trip to catch one of the shows.

Nick McCabe doesn't really strike me as an "in it for the paycheck" kinda guy. Plus they're probably all still rolling around in Bittersweet Symphony money. (Ok, not really.)

They played to the recent fans for sure. But having never seen them live, I did enjoy hearing a lot of that stuff.

Yeah, I noticed the heavy reliance on Urban Hymns. I love that album as well, but nine songs out of fifteen from it? Then I see four songs from the second album, and I don't recognize Sit and Wonder. Not a single track from the first album or E.P. - not even Slide Away, which always seemed like a live favorite of theirs.
I wonder why they ignore Storm in Heaven so much. It was a great debut. I'd love to see them pull out something like See You in the Next One (Have a Good Time) at a show.
Edit: That sounds like more of a complaint than I intended. I'm glad to see them back together and making new music and I'd be happy to hear them play anything on this tour, or hopefully the next one.

I think sit and Wonder was the other new song they sang.
It's from the Thaw Sessions I believe. At least it sounded familiar to me.
I don't have Storm in Heaven, got to get that I guess.
Live they reminded me a lot of the Stone Roses, the sound, the noise, and the ambience. Or at least Ian Brown, as I haven't seen the Stone Roses loud.

I saw Ashcroft open up for Coldplay. He played a lot of his own work so no one had any idea who he was. At one point I told my girlfriend, "That guy looks kinda like Richard Ashcroft!"
At one point I think the crowd gets a bit angry and just want Coldplay to come out (what? angry Coldplay fans?) and Richard gets miffed. And he goes to the end of the stage yelling at the person that's heckling him and says, "Do you know what it's like to write a classic? Do you?" and then he goes into "Bittersweet Symphony" and you see a thousand lightbulbs go off over the audience's heads.
Well, to be fair, the Rolling Stones needed the money.

I just heard the new song "Love is Noise" and I like it! I may have to pick up the album if the rest of it turns out as good.
