This is sad indeed. Boston was the shit when I was in college. It's too bad they weren't more productive.

RIP Brad. A real bummer. Boston will always have a special place in my heart. They were my first concert in 1978. I consider their debut album perhaps my favorite of all time. Sad,sad news. I hope you have finally found you Peace of Mind, Brad.

Damn...he went way too young. I will admit Boston's last album was a guilty pleasure of mine.

Man, he had a voice. One of the best debut albums ever. At least we still have the music.

Loved their debut album. I remember way back when it came out I was only 11 at the time. I bought and re-bought the album, 8-track, cd and remasterd cd. I've done that with a few over the span of 32 years but this has been one of my favorites that I still play from time to time. RIP.

Third Stage was one of the last vinyl albums I had, what an awesome recording. When I saw their concert for that tour, they played the album in order, which I found very strange.

I saw this thread and just said, "NO WAY!!"

Damn. Brad was one hell of a great singer, and add me to the list of people who count Boston as one of the (if not THE) greatest debut albums ever. There's a reason it's sold 25 or so MILLION copies over the last 31 years.

I was hoping for one more Boston album with Brad, I guess that won't happen now.

Bummer. He will be missed.

What's to admit, it is a great album..I love everything Boston, yea the first two albums are definately classics, "Third Stage" was totally amazing and i really love the non brad album "Walk On" that was released in 1994, even bought the greatest hits cd because of the two new tracks, then came "Corporate America" in 2002, man what a great album, Brad will definately be missed i was so hoping for something new in the near future, anyway

Would like to add that his work in the band "RTZ" was also amazing.

Boston was my favorite band for a long, long time (no pun intended). My Dad was (heck, still is) a rocker and had a great influence on my musical tastes. He'd buy albums and I'd wear them out. Boston made a huge impression on this grade school kid. They sounded great and unique. Pretty much every song was a winner. And it must be said... THAT ALBUM COVER! It's an all-timer. Guys my age might remember the shops that had iron-on transfers for t-shirts. The Air Force Base's BX had one and they had the first album cover as one of their designs. That was my first (of many many many) rock t-shirt.

Bill Graham used to do Day on the Green concerts way back when and my Dad took my brother and I to see Boston back in May of 1979. It was my first concert. They designed the stage to resemble the Don't Look Back album cover, complete with huge "planet" balloons tethered to the top. When I joined the fan club, they sent a color photo and it was of the band posing in front of that stage. I still have that stashed away somewhere around here.

I remember when Third Stage came out. I was working in a home improvement store at the time and my friend that worked in a different department paged me and told me that a new Boston song was playing on one of their display car stereos. It was "Amanda", and while not one of my favorite songs of their's, it was still great to hear new stuff. And of course, that meant a new tour. They sold out multiple dates here in the Bay Area, and I went to two of the concerts. The second show I was able to get second row tickets, and I took my Dad. Other fathers and sons maybe go hunting or fishing or to sports events. We shared a love of music and went to concerts together when I was growing up, so I was so happy to be able to take him to see Boston when I had "grown up". It was a bummer that Barry, Fran and Sib were no longer in the band, but I have to say the group they assembled sounded great.

I saw Boston one last time during the Walk On tour. Brad's voice was really giving out by then and Fran Cosmo pretty much had to hit any high notes needed. No matter to me though. Brad was still, and always will be, one of the great lead vocalists in rock history.

Wow, that is young. I enjoy the first two albums and the song "Amanda". Total guilty pleasures... yeah, I do feel guilty listening to their stuff. The no synth thing was silly to me.

It may seem that way today, but in the context of other rock bands of the era like Styx or ELO which were so synth-dependant, it made more sense to get back to a classic rock style.

Maybe, but they still played a bloated rock game which thankfully people in New York and London were working on changing. Anyway, I always thought them mentioning "no synths" had more to do with showing off their abilities than trying to sound different. Not trying to sound too negative because I really do like the first album.

A truly unique sound. The debut was one of those magical things. An anthem to the 70's.

I have a "source" who works with the NH medical examiner who was at the scene. Brad left a suicide note on the table. He was found in his bathroom with the door and window ducktaped and 2 hibachi grills and a spray bottle.

Pretty sad.
