Not really. Retiring is, "We're geezers and we've decided that we don't want to do this anymore." Breaking up is, "I can't work with these dickheads anymore."

I think Rush almost broke up in the mid-1980's, but I don't see them doing it now. Retirement, though...

Ok, well I meant "break up" as a generic, "we're not recording anymore, we're all doing our own thing, but we're still friends".

How'z that?

Also, its pretty amazing when you think about it, sans the first album, these are the same 3 guys for about what 36 or 37 years. Also at least from watching the dvds, they never really have more then the three members on stage, and don't seem to slow down faster paced songs due to age.

Yeah and they even ditched sucky opening acts for longer shows. At today's ticket prices this is much appreciated.

Geddy does make the joke about adding the intermission so they can recover and get oxygen.

Why does everyone always forget about John Rutsey?

Oops. I guess I missed the "sans" part, and was just looking at the "36 or 37 years" part. These same three guys have been together since '74, which has been 33 years now. If Rutsey had stayed with them it would have been closer to 37 years.

My bad.

If Rutsey had stayed with them, they wouldn't have lasted 10 years.

I've never been. I had the chance to go once and missed out on it. I suck.

Given that the only Rush record I've really liked since Signals is Counterparts ("Cut to the Chase" frigging ROCKS), I don't expect much from this record either, but with the multiple time signatures and complex rhythms, those 10 seconds really sound like the OLD Rush, so now I'm hopeful. The last chord (F#7?) in the clip reminds me of the opening chord on Hemispheres!

Saw them on the Vapor Trails tour and I really can't wait for this tour. Quickly scanned the list posted by kenbuzz and jumped for joy when I saw they were coming back to San Diego for my birthday AGAIN. Then I saw 2004.

From what I've read, that may be bogus. Here's a picture of the Hindu game "Leela":

and here's a side by side comparison of that picture and the so-called album art:

I doubt Hugh Syme would be so lazy as to just copy someone else's picture.

This next picture is a little small, but it's a more likely preview of the album artwork:

I still don't buy it. Rush has always been known for providing very original, artistic album covers, and I'll be very disappointed if they just slap someone else's picture on this one.

Just another reason to thank the lord that Neil came along!! That first cover sort of reflects the generic rock that was on that album.

Found this pic on another forum. Looks more like a Rush CD cover than what was previously posted.

Edit 3/22/07 - Yikes! Looks like they changed the cover. This isn't the pic I originally linked to.

That looks like the same font used for Grace Under Pressure.
