So how is Roth?
Does he do any leg sprints or any jumping around?
With his short yuppie haircut and matador jacket he looks like a Vegas lounge singer.

I caught the concert here in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre.

Eddie and David hugged each other at the start of the show. Likely to show audiences that things are now patched up.

Roth does attempt approx 4 leg sprints - 3 of them barely off the floor.

He did a great job and only had trouble getting high notes on a couple of songs.

If anyone was jumping around and looking youthful, it was Eddie. He especially looked like the proud father performing with Wolfgang.

At one point, he raised his son's hand like he won a champion boxing match, and Wolfgang tried to pull his hand away in embarrassment.

It was an excellent concert. Michael Anthony was not missed.

Saw it last night. As JIF stated that was pretty much the how it was and was actually a lot of fun. Eddie did a great job, light years above what he was like last time around with Sammy. Also who ever took DLR as anything but a game show host? That is how he always was and not bad for a 50 year old ... set list was the same as well which I can not really complain about at all.

I hope that this gets released in some form (compilation, single show, whatever) as a DVD.

wm lopez 10-20-07 04:39 PM

They played here in Chicago and they showed some footage and I didn't like Roth's look.
It didn't look rock it looked Las Vegas.

zombiezilla 10-20-07 09:38 PM

Well, wm, as someone who attended VH shows the first time around with Dave, I hafta say...they always were as much Vegas as rock, in pretty much equal parts. Better that than sittin' on a fucking stool being all "serious".

wm lopez 10-21-07 11:11 AM

So it's more like ROCK VEGAS.
Like in the Flintstones.

Amen to that!

zombiezilla 10-23-07 06:20 AM

Well, we might get SOMETHING from VH in the way of DVD, it seems. The rumor, according to MusicTap, is that they are working on a DVD history of VH a`la "KISSOLOGY" !!!

Going to tonight's show in MSP...waited 23 years for this..damn am I pumped!

Went to the Montreal Show a couple nights ago and I was really dissapointed. The band was really sloppy, Dave kept screwing up the lyrics, and the background vocals being piped in were very obvious. I've been to many worse shows but with a band of this calubur there is really no excuse. (and who was playing keyboards during jump anyway?)

zombiezilla 11-12-07 07:29 PM

The keys are all programmed. Your comments are the only bad thing I've heard about this tour yet. I'll still see 'em in Dallas.

cactusoly 11-12-07 09:39 PM

I also heard great things. Maybee my expectations were too high. Maybee it was an off night.

Dallas date hasn't been announced yet, has it? Just making sure.

Supermallet 11-13-07 04:25 AM

Looks like they added two shows in Los Angeles. Which is good, because I can't make the show on the 20th.

Not yet, though it's supposed to be in January @ the American Airlines Ctr.

Got an email from my buddy saying that Ky-Mani Marley was out as opening act. He's been replaced by a dude named Ryan Shaw, who does straight-up 60's R&B. Pretty cool stuff. Roth must have picked him.

[edit]Here's a link to the story. Shaw takes over for the second leg, starting Feb. 22.

How many of us thought there would be a second show on this tour, let alone a second leg?

zombiezilla 02-07-08 08:35 PM

God DAMN it, somebody better release a DVD of a show from this tour.

emanon 02-07-08 08:40 PM

Lots of fanshot shows available, some of which are quite decent.

MrTerrific 02-23-08 11:32 PM

The Atlanta show (Gwinnett Civic Center) for February 25th has been postponed.

I hope the band is alright. I was really looking forward to the show.

emanon 02-25-08 10:25 AM

Maybe Wolfie's got his SATs or something.

wm lopez 02-26-08 03:08 AM

Anybody saw Valerie Bertinalli on Oprah?
She has a new book and revealed a lot of stuff about her marriage to Eddie.

Vibiana 02-26-08 09:11 AM

"Oh, Jimmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" *exaggerated falsetto*

:D

stinkeye 03-03-08 10:29 AM

And...it's over?

The Van Halen reunion tour--recently plagued by postponements that were reportedly the result of Eddie Van Halen being very unhappy with his ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli's tell-all biography--has reportedly been canceled, or at least postponed indefinitely. The band was scheduled to play a show at the American Airlines Center in Dallas tomorrow night; the venue's Web site is proceeding as normal, but MelodicRock.com is corroborating the story originally reported by TMZ, saying that there will be no further live shows at this time, that some dates may be rescheduled--and that the cancellations aren't David Lee Roth's fault.

Chrisedge 03-03-08 11:38 AM

Despite the tour-cancellation rumors that have run rampant since last night, tonight's Van Halen concert at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas is "still scheduled," according to the nice woman there who I just spoke to via phone. (And Ticketmaster is still selling tickets the the show, too--there were $149.50 seats available not 15 minutes ago.) She did note, however, that any changes to that plan would be announced via the venue's official site, which is, as you may not be surprised to hear, currently getting completely slammed with traffic to the point where it's nigh unusable. Between this and the Nine Inch Nails thing, productivity at cubicle-monkey jobs across America must be reaching quite the low point today. [Photo: AP]
