Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High
This album leaked over the weekend (and now I hear the release date is being bumped from Feb. 6 to Jan. 30). Any thoughts? The album seems very solid - lots of catchy pop punk tunes that don't overstay their welcome. Traditional FOB nonsensical lyrics and irrelevant song titles, but for the most part, it's a decent effort that is bound to please fans of From Under The Cork Tree.
The record has a TON of radio friendly songs on here and I'm pretty sure some of these will be inescapable for the next few months. FOB definitely prove that they want to stay in the mainstream. If you liked their last record, you won't be disappointed...if you didn't, this one is not going to change your mind.

The first time I heard of them/him (?) was on the reissue of "A Nightmare Before Christmas" doing "What't This?" While the emotion of the song was totally gone, the music was a nifty interpretation of it. If I liked that, would I like this cd...?

I actually think this is their worst album so far. I personally like their last album the best out of the three I've listened to. The album isn't bad, but like another post stated a lot of the songs sound the same and are boring. I do love their new single, it is by far the best track off their album. There are a couple more good songs, but as a whole, I'm very disappointed.

I also think this is thier worst album. Sounds too much like Panic at The Disco! Only 1 or 2 tracks sound like old FOB, the rest is a mess and sounds like 12 different bands recorded for this album. At least I wont have to sit through this crap live, since I'll be leaving their show after their opening band, +44, is done

Wow, I'm surprised at the hate...listen to it a few more times, I have a feeling it will grow on you. Action and disco seem to have different problems...action thinks they all sound the same, disco thinks it sounds like 12 different bands. I think they all sound like FOB but have different flavours, and I also think that "This Ain't A Scene" is nowhere near the best song on here.

personally looking forward to this, but i'll wait for the 6th to hear it. i love the single, it's got such a killer groove with classic FOB style.
i'm not sure i'm down with a jay z intro on an FOB album, i dig day but together it seems a bit contrived and lame.
i'll hold judgement though

nope, they decided not to bump up the release, much to FOB's disappointment...and yeah, the Jay-z intro is bad - like any sort of Skit on a rap album...after you hear it once, you wish it wasn't on the actual album.

outstanding and growing with each spin. a departure for sure from the past albums, Patrick shows his vocal range which is outstanding and really adds to the appeal. Typical FOB hooks, and catchy choruses. Very singable, and lots of clever lyrics. Only a couple weak tracks. Faves are Thriller (though I could do without the JayZ intro), this ain't a scene...., Carpel Tunnell of Love, and Hum Hallelujah. I got the Best Buy version that has a download card for 2 more tracks, but the website isn't up yet it seems.
Anyone get the limited packaging? Wondering what the difference is.

if anyone picked this up at Target, it apparently came with a code to buy tickets online as of today for the FOB/+44 tour. I would love the code if you are not going to use it...gotta see my +44 before pit tickets sell out

I borrowed a friend's copy of this, and wow...this crap is laughably bad. I've admittedly never been a fan of Fall Out Boy. I bought Take This To Your Grave at the 2003 Warped Tour for $5 and sold it after one listen, I hated it that much. I've sat through them numerous times live because they were sandwiched between bands I really wanted to see, and their live show isn't much better. But I try to give bands a chance with each new album, and these guys have yet to write a song that I enjoy.
Then again, I let my friend borrow the new Lifetime album and he hated that just as much as I hated this. So, to each their own.

They should do something about this, for sure.
Anyway, these MP3s aren't going anywhere; not until May 31st of this year, anyway.
