Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Well there are some pretty old songs there. Guess it's been a while since his last one.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
He's coming to Ravinia in the suburbs, and it's on our anniversary so we'll be trying for tickets.

I guess I just scrolled up to check and saw the most recent video posted was "Do I Creep You Out?" so I thought it was old and stopped there. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Going to try and get tickets to the Modesto show. Minus something unexpected happening between now and then will be my daughter’s first concert.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I was all set to buy 4 tickets for me, nickdawgy and our wives. Then last night my daughter called up from Brooklyn - "It's not fair! Weird Al is playing 5 dates in Vegas and only one in New York!" and asked me to get her a ticket as she would be coming back to Vegas to visit this Summer anyways. She's an indie music snob most of the time, but I guess I raised her as a Weird Al devotee. So now I had to call my son at college and ask him "I know you said you hate concerts and think they're a waste of money. So I assume you don't want to go to see Weird Al with us?" Of course he says, "No, I want to go too'. So now I have to pick up SIX tickets! Wouldn't you know it, the computer only let me buy 4. Nick had to get his own in the same section. At least getting the tickets was easy. The Venetian is a nice intimate theater with 1800 seats. Should be fun!

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Wouldn’t mind going, prices are so-so. But Im getting sick of outdoor shows in boiling heat. Too old for it.

My wife, as I had mentioned, is a fan of Puddled Pity Party (we saw him in 2019). He's still just amazing. I hope this show raises his profile. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...1cfd0d77a6.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...98d51fbc72.png https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...c7adf6752a.jpg Also, solid merch for the Vegas Residency to start the tour : https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...62fe47b6fc.png |

"Weird Al" is in town on our anniversary weekend.
My wife doesn't want to go. Looks like our anniversary weekend will also be our divorce weekend. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Glad you and yours had a good time! Sorry to hear Story. Looking forward to my show in late August.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Hmm. As much as I love Weird Al I don't feel the need to see him live again myself. He is playing just 15 minutes or so away which makes it tempting. Will see if my daughter wants to go again. If she does I'm down.
Thanks for the heads up! |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
June 19th. Riverside is just outside of Kansas City MO. The Morton hasn't been built yet but has a name. Supposed to have more than 30 concerts a year. Still deciding if I want to see him again. Saw him twice when I lived in San Diego.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
He's coming back to the Minnesota State Fair this year (first act they announced today). He has been there several times, including back in 2010 when I booked him on the talk show I produced at the time. We were live at the Fair and he came for an interview - literal life highlight for me, I've loved him since I was a kid. Here's a pic of us backstage.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I love Al and so does my daughter, but the nearest show is in Windsor, which is actually super close, but there's the hassle of crossing the border and my daughter doesn't have a passport, It's also on July 4th. So probably not gonna make that. The other option is Toledo in October, but it's a Saturday and I don't have Michigan's schedule for next year yet, so I don't know if that's doable. Might have to skip this year.
EDIT: Actually my youngest is 15 and won't be 16 until the end of July. So she can probably cross the border with me without a passport. But she probably doesn't want to go without her older sister who doesn't have one, and even if she did, she probably doesn't want to miss out on the fireworks. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I shredded my 2025 Bingo card around March. This wasn't on it anyway. Not because Al doesn't see what's happening in the world but because he's Disney level family friendly. Seeing him sing "Fuck you I won't do what you told me!" sums up the bizarro world that now exists.
