He's also doing a different cover song every night. This is the one we got. Sorry for the poor camera work, the audio is good though.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
He closed with The Saga Begins here as well. I saw that on some shows he closed with Yoda
|
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
He closed with Yoda in towns that had two shows.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
What'd you shoot that with? Sound quality is pretty good, my iphone only records in mono.
I know you dislike streaming, but next month after the the tour concludes all 75 shows will be able to be streamed in their entirety at Stitcher. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I shot the video on my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6.
The streaming is audio only. You have to have a membership with stitcher, but you can probably get a free trial if you've never had one before. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
2019 Strings Attached Tour - back to his regular show but with a full orchestra.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Wow, he's actually going to be 90 minutes from me. I've seen him once and it was fantastic.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Bummer, like one great big U around Minnesota. Not sure if I would take the kids on a road trip to Cedar Rapids, or not.
|
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
No Birmingham trip. :(
I have seen him once and it was great but I am not sure I really want to travel to see him again. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I've seen him 10+ times, and will likely see him again on July 5th in Rochester Hills. Ticket prices will dictate whether or not I bring the kids though. They've seen him twice, but I couldn't afford to bring them all to the Vanity Tour.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I'll be going to Sacramento show on this tour. venue might suck for this, tho. Its a cool old place but seating is weird
|
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Playing at the Smith Center  That's a beautiful performing arts center that seats like 4000. I'm an annual donor there. Can't wait to see this show! No ticket info at present.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Got tickets. Orchestra Right, Row G. $85 each. What a deal!
|
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I didn't get any yet cuz I'm broke. Also I want to bring my kids, so if I have to buy 4, we're going to be on the lawn, and there is no need to buy lawn tickets 8 months in advance. I will wait until spring when the box office opens so that I can avoid paying Ticketmaster surcharges. Sometimes there are deals like B1G1 offered around that time too.
|
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I jumped on the $25 pre-sale lawn tickets the other day. I couldn't justify quadruple the price when I'm taking 6 of us. We'll spread out and enjoy the show from afar.

I bought a single, much more expensive ticket for the last tour during the pre-sale, and it did sell out, but that was in a 1,700 seat venue. This is a 7,700 seat venue. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
My tix don’t go on sale til May.

Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread

Saw the show last night. It was fun. He was great as always. The symphony angle was a little wasted though. They opened with a four movie theme orchestral set that was a pretty cool 20-25 minutes. Then they accompanied Weird Al and the band but you often wouldn't even notice them - behind glass and way softer than his band. Not at all done with proper orchestration like Sting did on his Symphocity Tour. Thought it was interesting that recent artist revelations seem to have changed up the set list. No "Eat It" No "Fat" and sadly no "Trapped in the Drive Through" which, of course, would have been perfect for the orchestra. I assume it's just harder to laugh at MJ or R. Kelly songs these days. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
I think Al is bored of Eat It anyways. It has been restricted to the medley since the 80's and performances in recent years were in the acoustic medley where he changes the melody (which he is still performing on this tour, but Eat it has been removed).
Trapped in the Drive Thru has never been performed live except in medley form. Fat is the biggest loss, as it was his closer to the main set for many years. He probably doesn't miss putting on the fat suit every night though. |
Re: The Weird Al Yankovic Appreciation Thread
Last time I saw him a few years ago, he did Dare to be Stupid which was incredible for me. That is from the first Weird Al record (tape) I ever owned.
