Re: Who have you seen in concert?
I saw Butthole Surfers in SD last Friday. They killed it. I know they're way out there and too weird for some, but they write some really good songs. I find them to be vastly underrated.

caught Deadmau5 show last night at the new Fillmore (Silver Spring) - technically, wow! musically, eh... I was expecting more.
as for the new venue - the sound system kills the 9:30's - at the 9:30 the sound tends to bleed all together into a mess of sound - here though the bass seems very seperated from the rest of the midrange and the treble - it also helps immensely that the speakers aren't towers but suspended

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
Wilco's concert this evening at the renovated Kiel Opera House (now known as the Peabody) was fantastic. Aside from the concession prices and the lack of legroom - what an awesome venue. It may have been the best sounding concert I have ever heard.
Nick Lowe opened w/ a solo forty minute set. He still has a great voice and can play a nice acoustic guitar. A bit slow at first, but he picked up the pace over the latter half.
Wilco's set was phenomenal, despite the lack of "Muzzle of Bees" in the set list. They played for just over two hours and had a great mix of the old and the new. The new material plays much better live than it does on the album. Three of the first four songs were new tracks. They played a lengthy encore, which included a couple of songs w/ Lowe. The only disappointing part of the set was Nels' solo on "Impossible Germany".

I thought the sound system was good, but the vocals were lost in the mix (this is most likely the bands fault). I like the atmosphere, it's a very nice looking club.
I'm going back for Trey Anastasio in a couple weeks, I'll be showing up extra early in order to get one of those balcony rail spots so I can actually see the show.

Saw Blink 182, My Chemical Romance, and Matt and Kim a few days ago in Sacramento. Fun show, Matt and Kim surprised me, not the kind of music I care for, but they put on a really good show.

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
Showing my age and restricted to bands/artists people may have heard of.
As a kid:
Ratt
Billy Squier
Night Ranger
Cheap Trick
Bon Jovi w/ Poison (came within 5 feet or so of being in Wanted Dead or Alive video)
As an adult:
Tori Amos (9:30 Club)
Cowboy Mouth (Tipitina's)
I think that's it. I have seen far more comedians live than musicians.

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
Several years ago I tried to list all the bands I'd seen in concert, I stopped at 50, some of them I'd seen multiple times: Judas Priest = 5 times, Pink Floyd = twice, it would take WAY more time than I can spare to list them all. Suffice to say I was VERY busy in the mid to late 70's, early 80's, most of them memorable, some not so much, one not at all. -kd5-

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
too many for me to list, but coming up next month i'll be seeing Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the House of Blues in San Diego. this will be my third time seeing them, they are so so great live! last month i saw Weekend and they sounded phenomenal live.. maybe even better than on the album (which was in my top 10 best albums of 2010).

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
i saw them in Tucson recently and loved hearing the new stuff live. i've seen them at Coachella and also Sasquatch! but seeing them in a theatre was a totally different experience. i took a friend that had never heard them before and she turned to me after two songs and said 'they are sooo good!'

Re: Who have you seen in concert?
I just went to a punk rock festival in Gainesville, FL this past weekend and saw a shitload of bands in 3 days...Gateway District, The Slow Death, The Copyrights, Cobra Skulls, Touche Amore, No Trigger, We Are The Union, Polar Bear Club, The Menzingers (acoustic), The Soviettes, Armalite, Paul Baribeau, RVIVR, Iron Chic, The Riot Before, The Menzingers (not acoustic), Nothington, The Bomb, Heartsounds, Blacklist Royals, Red City Radio, Bomb The Music Industry!, Tiltwheel, No Friends, The Dopamines, The Menzingers (not acoustic, again), Dear Landlord, A Wilhelm Scream, Teenage Bottlerocket, Less Than Jake.
I think I may have shaved a few years off my life with all that, but it was a really great time.
