I'm removing Joseph Arthur, since according to the new release list for Sept/Oct his new album comes out in 3 weeks. I find it hard to believe that he'd have another one out as soon as 2007, since his name is Joseph Arthur and not Ryan Adams. Then again, maybe I'm wrong?
Ditto for 'Weird Al', since Straight Outta Lynwood is scheduled for release in September.
I'm not going to list Kevin Federline because he's not an artist. He's a celebrity.

Linkin Park (produced, I hear, by Rick Rubin!)
Dr. Dre (oh yeahhh)
The Postal Service
My other faves already released stunningly good albums this year: Muse, Placebo, Mesh and Keane.

Kings of Leon (Far and away my #1 choice)
The Arcade Fire
Bloc Party
Wilco
I hate to say it but I don't have much hope for the Smashing Pumpkins album. They might as well call it Zwan 2.0
In the past I would have been looking forward to a Foo Fighters cd, but after the last two albums I have given up on them.
If U2 does release an album next year I assume it would not be until the end of the year. Then they will probably follow the same tour pattern in 2008 that they seem to have followed since The Joshua Tree (Start off in the US in March, go to Europe for the summer, come back to the US in the fall.)

Retired
U2
Radiohead
Modest Mouse (if it doesn't make it out this fall--has been delayed once already I think)
Foo Fighters
Dave Matthews Band if they get one out (played 5 or 6 new songs on tour this summer)

I'm looking forward to a lot of those, plus Electrelane's new album. They're in Berlin writing it now, so I'd expect a release at the very end of this year or early next year. Their new album is not listed.

I'll add the album to my list as it seems quite unlikely that it will see the light of day this calendar year.

Just read over at Pitchfork that Magnetic Fields will be releasing one (tentatively) next spring! Adding that to both the master list and the list of "for sure" purchases for me!

It seems Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have one coming out on 30 January! Or, at least, the Pitchfork tidbit today says so, according to their guitarist/keyboardist.

Modest Mouse have pushed back their new album from the end of December into the early new year. It's to be titled: We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
