A shooting on Detroit’s northeast side early Tuesday morning has left a well known Detroit rapper and another man dead.

The shooting occurred on 8 Mile Rd. Rap artist Proof and another man were both shot to death at the Triple C club, at around 4:30 a.m.

Police are investigating the scene, and there has been word yet of suspects or motives.

Proof is a member of the rap group D12, and a close friend of Eminem’s.

It has been reported that Proof was the best man at Eminem’s recent wedding to Kim Mathers.

Stay tuned to 7 Action News for more information as it becomes available.

Oh his career will be huge now! Unfortunately he won't be here to enjoy it.

Terrible. Should be enough to get Eminem back in the studio.

Didn't Proof get shot and killed in Eminem's 'Toy Soldiers' video?

lame post.. I'm not saying the guy was a saint or you should cry/mourn his death (although I liked him), but come on... a little restraint/sympathy

Hey, after 41 YEARS living within a mile of a major ghetto in Detroit, I can't wait for them ALL to go. Harsh or not, "gangstas" are scum, and deserve nothing, let alone adulation, living or dead. Their entire culture (and I use the term loosely) is based upon drug sales/use and violence against "ordinary" people. I say we give each one a loaded gun and tell him/her that the last living gangsta gets anything they want in the world...and then we kill the winner.

I hate rap, but I hate to see people killed. Wishing for others to die is not a way to solve the whole gang problem.

Proof was a good rapper, sad to see him go.

Zombiezilla...well, they've already said it. Either way, I'd stop while you're ahead.

on the one hand, he's got a point...i'm tired of hearing how bad [insert name of any contemporary rapper]'s life was and how he had to hustle/deal drugs/gang bang (not that kind of gang bang) to "survive". whatever.

on the other hand, my grandmother always said "if can't say something nice about someone..."

that said, other than running with Eminem, I know nothing about him..

This is probably better for another thread, but there is often a seperation between rappers and gangsters.. Rappers will oftem be the first to tell you that they are just playing a role. A role that white middle class america wants them to play, but that also is better for another thread. Do you wish Al Pacino dead because he played a gangster in Scarface... What about Robert DeNiro? Kind of the same difference.

I know he was in 8 mile as well, one of the freestyle rappers that battled em, early on I think.

From what I have heard he was a regular guy and didn't play the "fame" card. It's too bad...

You live the life they sing (if you can use that term) and this isn't surprising. Sad to see, but not a big shock any time you read about another rapper shot. I just don't get the mentality.
