I just saw Oceans Twelve this weekend and I heard his bass in the movie, but I do not know what album (if any) it was from.

I've ony had the pleasure of seeing Primus once (couple of years ago @ Bonnaroo), but i've been listening to them since 95, what an amazing band.
now onto Claypool, WOW!
Les is one of the best bass players i've ever seen, the man has such a strong stage presence that you don't want to look away from him. I love all his solo bands (fancy, frogs, his stuff with buckethead) and he always makes it a good show.

I've been a fan since Sailing the Seas of Cheese. However I didn't buy the Brown album or Antipop. Their last ep "Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People" is really cool. Tim Alexander is back on drums on it.

As for the 'Thrax show, I have seen them live a few times and had enjoyed them much more live than Primus. Not saying Primus sucked song wise on record - I liked a lot/or some actually, but live? no love from me at all.

I like Primus a lot especially since Les is such a Bass Playing BADASS. I mean he's one of the most talented Bass players in the Biz. HOWEVER, Primus cd's tend to have one or two awesome songs and the rest are mediocre.
I saw Primus live once when they opened for RUSH on the "Hold your Fire" tour. Primus was decent enough.

I bought Sailing The Seas Of Cheese after seeing their video for "Jerry Was A Racecar Driver." The guys behind the counter at the music store told me I would like them a lot. They were right! The only other ringing endorsement I have received in making a music purchase was when a gal at Best Buy hugged the CD I purchased for Garbage's self-titled album.
Sailing and Frizzle Fry are great albums and it's nice having the DVD of videos on Animals. Primus sucks!

Obviously, not many in this thread have seen or heard Primus recently... They are THE best live band on the planet at the moment. Go spin the Hallucino-Genetics DVD if you don't believe me.
As for Les... Claypool rules. He's one of the only bass players I know of that has ever influenced a GUITAR player. Think about that one for minute. All of his side projects have some amazing moments as well.

I saw Primus in Rochester, NY in 97 and thought they were pretty good. A disc I like is Les Claypool's Frog Brigade - Live Frogs, Set 2 where they perform the whole Pink Floyd Animals album. I've read that the set 1 disc is great also, but haven't heard it.

Saw them at their "Final Freak Out" (Y2K) when Incubus and Buckethead opened for them...it rocked, and even Bob Cock made an appearance from Heaven for that show
Then they played a free show at the Fillmore for some music competition...which kicked series ass. The Fillmore is an amazing venue.
Then saw the Hallucino-genetics tour last time around, the venue sucked here in Portland...but they still rocked hard. It was awesome to see Tim pounding the skins, not that Brain did a bad job.
Every time they rocked hard. And I'd see them again.

bump for awesomeness
Barber
Get this mirror cleaned
I'm troubled by the face I see before me
As we shave our nations face
Keep a steady hand
Listen to these words that soon will ring across the land
Wield the Spade
Ready the blade
Sacrifices must be made
There are many fools who dare propose imposing limits on my power
Those ungrateful who've been swayed by
intellectuals in their ivory towers
They will pay for crimes that God and I will not allow
Some before the firing squad and some behind the plow
Wield the spade
Barber
Get this mirror cleaned
I'm troubled by the face I see before me
Be careful not to miss a whisker
Soon I face my people who adore me
As you shave our nations face
Keep a steady hand
Listen to these words that soon will ring across the land
Wield the spade
Ready the blade
Sacrifices must be made
Barber
You've done very well
Much cleaner now the mirror's telling no lies
I know I'm not imagining the telltale glint of death
I see in your eyes
I can't trust you
So I must do something with my knife
It's a shame to lose a damn good barber
But that's life
Wield the spade
Ready the blade
Sacrifices must be made
