Ditto, one of the best singles of the last few years, IMO.

Annoying songs:
"What's Up" by Four Non-Blondes
"Where Have all the Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole (the de-de-de crap drives me CRAZY!!!!)
Pretty much any 1994-5-6 post-Pearl Jam type song (like that Collective Soul "December" shit)
"Who Will Save Your Soul" by Jewel

For me, older songs can't be as annoying as their annoyingness has either turned into enjoyable campyness (example: "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo") or nostalgia (example "We Built this City" by Starship, which inevitably like totally reminds me of the totally awesome summer of 83).

Unlistenable:
"I Swear" and "I Believe I can Fly". Isn't that fury-inducing aural garbage from the same group?

Celine Dion - anything post-fame.
Whitney Houston - "I Will Always Loathe You"
Bryan Adams - Robin Hood and beyond.

The few cable stations I watch seem to run the same ads all the time, and I can't think of a more irritating song (played in the Vontage ads) than "Woo Hoo" by the 5,6,7,8's off the Kill Bill soundtrack (which is otherwise a good CD). And it only makes it worse to think how much money the writers of the garbage are making with the song featured in a big movie and ads that are run non-stop.

I liked the songs you mentioned, too. Well the Cowboys song is kind of annoying. Are you referring to A Long December? Good song.

I swear is All 4 One I think, and I believe I can fly is R kelly if I recall correctly.

I swear is a good song, but I believe I can fly is really lame.

It came out in 1985, and it reminded him of 1983. What is so hard to figure out about that?

comes on. My god do i loathe that song. Odd, because I like Somebody Told Me so much. But it really gets under my skin. No other song that's played on the radio right now gives me that reaction.

You?
What's funny is that I feel the opposite you do. I don't listen to the radio much, but if you hit up someone's myspace page, or walk into a trendy store, I may hear "Mr. Brightside" playing. I also own the cd, so it gets some airplay in my car or at home.

Anyway, I'll probably never get sick of that song. However, after a few listens of "Somebody Told Me", I grew increasingly tired of it. Never having liked the song may have something to do with it.

(I can't stand that song either, but that illustration you just painted was very funny.)

Ha! Hilariously bad, imo.

Reminds me of that one hip hop (?) song that went:

"come on ride the train. ride it. whoot whoot."

Something along the lines. Really annoying!

Just reading some of the posts on here, I've found myself agreeing with you on some songs, and disagreeing with others.

With this post, I've realized that I, too, have become eternally sick of hearing "Another One Bites the Dust", as well as "Start Me Up."

But something about "Jump" has kept me from tiring of it. I'd still enjoy it if it were on the radio.

Sometimes the context, or environment I should say, that the song is playing in has a lot to do with whether or not I'll enjoy it. Case in point, I was going to add "Shook Me All Night Long" to the list of songs that I've grown tired of. But play that at a party, and it's a totally different reaction from me. Playing it in my car, by myself, fuggedaboutit!

Just reading your comment regarding "Woo Hoo" reminded me that I'm eternally sick of Blur's "Song #1"... "the woo hoo" song. I like Blur, and the albums preceding that one. That particular album -- the self-titled one that "Song #1" came from --was alright. The next album was spotty. And I haven't heard their last effort, without Graham Coxon. Anyway, the point being is I like the band, but that song makes me grimace now.

Some hispanc-urban rapper (can't remember his name) made a Spanish version that's more hideous than the original called Paletelo Man.

Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow - Picture
Staind - Outside
Audioslave - Pick one, any one. All of them.

I second the "any R&B" comment, although there are a very select few I don't mind.

I didn't/don't mind "I Swear." Wasn't there a country artist that sang it the same year it was released by All 4 One? I was never sure of who wrote it. It was probably a third party.

"I Don't Know Much" by Linda Rondsfat and Aaron Neville.

The "Money Money Money MO-NAY" song that plays in almost every movie trailer.

I hate.. hate.. HATE..

"Do they know it's Christmas?" from the "Band-Aid" collaboration.

In particular... this line: "And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime."

Well no shit.. they'd probably all freeze to death if there was. I know the song was for charity.. but damn is it annoying to hear that every Christmas.

How about the line "thank God it's them instead of you." Still, I think x-mas is a much better song than the other 80's charity catastrophe, "We Are The World".

"What's Up" - Four Non-Blondes
"Love Shack" - B 52's
"Everybody Hurts" - REM
"Nothing Compairs To U" - Sinead OConnor
"It's Been Awhile" - Staind
"Show Me How to Live" - Audioslave

The 6 above songs are ten times worse than fingernails on a chalkboard backed up by screaming babies.

I didn't/don't mind "I Swear." Wasn't there a country artist that sang it the same year it was released by All 4 One? I was never sure of who wrote it. It was probably a third party.
I'm not sure who wrote it, but the country artist that did that song was John Michael Montgomery, one of the few country artists I own CD's of. Oddly enough he also did the song "I Could Love You Like That" which All 4 One did too.

Audioslave - Pick one, any one. All of them.
oh, I know, thank god someone is on my side on this one. and the worst part is the radio keeps playing them! one time last summer I remember the radio station played 3 audioslave songs in a row for no reason. and all my friends love it and tell me what a great voice Chris Cornell has. The guy sounds like he's tring to sing with a mouthful of marbles after getting hit by a fast moving car.

I also hate the O'Connor version but love the Prince version.

I agree and disagree with some of the choices in this thread but you don't know pain until you hear the latin wannabe singles such as "Macarena", "Asereje (Ketchup song)" and "La Bomba". Now that's hell!
