Here is a link to a website where you can hear the entire Christmas Shoes song. I listened to the first four lines before my ears started bleeding. You have been warned...

Hey kid, if your mother might die tonight, buy her something better than a pair of fucking shoes. Like, a novelty coffee mug.

But, she has to look beautiful in case she meets Jesus. Because Jesus only accepts hot chicks into heaven. Don't you get it?

OK, that wins by a mile. Let me just say that if I'm ever terminal, I'd like to have my daughter by my side and not in some mall shopping for a friggin' pair of shoes as I expire. Did anyone else get the gist that this guy wrote this song to congratulate himself for chipping in on the purchase?

...And I think it's a more than just a coincidence that the website address ends in "asshoes."

Same here! Where I work has been playing nothing but Christmas songs since the second week in November, so I've pretty much heard every one ever written 50 million times. I hate Christmas songs to start with, so having to hear them on repeat for 40 hours a week makes me want to do very bad things.

When I turned the radio on on Christmas Day and George Michael's Last Christmas started playing, I had to restrain myself from beating my stereo into oblivion because that one drives me insane.

Thank sweet jeebus it's all over now and we've gone back to the regular music. Although I did go shopping at a supermarket the week before and while there for three hours, I didn't hear one. fucking. Christmas song. I felt like weeping openly of jealousy. And also of appreciation for not contributing to my violent temper.

Although I have to say I like Mariah Carey's version of O Holy Night

"Christmas Shoes" is absolutely hideous, but "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" and "Holly Jolly Christmas" are both great in their original versions (Brenda Lee and Burt Ives, respectively).

Re: Worst, Most Vomit-Inducing Christmas Songs of All Time

Anyone else have any suggestions? I am trying to compile an album of the worst Christmas songs ever, as a gag gift for my mother. Her birthday is Nov. 23 and she asked for some albums of Christmas music by her favorite singers. Surely some even worse songs have come out since this thread was last posted to.

Re: Worst, Most Vomit-Inducing Christmas Songs of All Time

The Christmas shoes song is the worst by far for me.

There is another one that gets played a lot around Christmas that really bothers me, but I can't remember the name of it right now.

I think Christmas Shoes the worst.

I also have a problem with Streisand changing lyrics to Christmas songs to omit references to Christ.

One that is worse, The Rankin Bass Santa Claus is Coming to Town special has a song with the lyrics-

A Kiss a toy is the price you'll pay"

Santa's a perv.

Billy Idol - Yellin' at the Xmas Tree

It's not a bad song, but it certainly isn't one to get you in the Christmas cheer.

Maybe you have to smoke his luggage to appreciate the song.
I think they used it as an excuse, knowing that they couldn't actually bang 'im up for a crap record even though he deserved it.

"Mary's Boy Child" by Boney M.

I worked at a retail electronics store last holiday season and this was the one song that put me over the edge.

Actually, I love this song, so I only mention it because I remember my mom hated it every time she heard it on the radio.

Re: Worst, Most Vomit-Inducing Christmas Songs of All Time

I'm a big hoarder of Christmas songs. Its the largest category in my CD collection.

The songs I cant stand to hear are that dog barkin' Jingle Bells song, and Grandma Got Run Over. I just cant stand these songs. The novelty of these songs ran out the week they were released and they weren't that novel to begin with. Now I'm not against novelty Christmas songs. My favorite is The 12 Pains of Christmas.

Christmas Shoes is a 'nice' story that should have never been put to music. I just hate that it exists to purely pull at people's heart strings and does it so waaay over the top. One listen is enough for anyone and after that it's just too much. Even once a year is too much.

I actually like A Wonderful Christmas Time but then I like a lot of the pop stuff that Paul did with Wings and that whole Wings sound.

The big problem is not enough variety being played during the season. You can only listen to Mariah Carey blather on about 'all she wants for Christmas is you' so much and then its just time to move on. There are sooo many other Christmas songs available to play so why do they insist on playing the same 'Top 50' songs in a rotation?

Re: Worst, Most Vomit-Inducing Christmas Songs of All Time

This thread reminds me of "Christmas Is All Around" from Bill Nighy on the film Love Actually.

Meant to be bad, but I have it on my iPod. I especially like how we squeeze the extra syllable into the 2nd verse.
