not mine ;) cause my tenth album is going to be just come completely out of left field and quite frankly ruin me from winning - I'm doing this list just to have some fun and really reflect my taste in music. The game's premise is to one up each other's list in music and cull from a pool of already well established artists - I am not condoning people's choice in music, but for the most part it's a laundry list of MOR artists that critics and fans have been praising for years. Sure I'm guilty of it as well, but if we were to do another ten album round I think it would be very interesting to see what lists would be made if we couldn't relist or repeat the artists from this first Top Ten List.

Nope. There is no way to set up a poll with this many options. Check out the TVTalk Draft threads if you want to see how the voting will work.

Sony's boxset Soundtrack for a Century is still available.

500 artists, a hundred years of music. 26 CDs.

Sure, it's a cop-out. But it's a well-packaged cop-out.

I think that's an awesome idea, actually.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I wasn't sure how many people would be interested since you couldn't pick all the normal favorites (i.e. Beatles, Stones, Clash, Zeppelin, etc.).

Fandango 11-03-05 12:38 PM

Round 9: Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein

OK. I didn't pay much attention to the TV one so I don't know how it works. I hope it didn't get into a bunch of "you didn't vote for me, so I'm not voting for you" crap.

Who knows though? You might pick a guilty pleasure that a bunch of us love but just don't have the balls to put on our lists.... :D

As for the follow up game with this game's picks ruled out, I think it's a great idea, but I'd say we take a couple weeks off between them. At some point, there could also be drafts specific to a certain decade or of songs instead of albums...

Everybody was pretty cool about the whole game.

From what I can gather from an internet forum , everybody playing in this draft seems pretty laid back and cool. I don't think we'll have a problem.

I agree that we should take a little break after this draft.

I had already begun to think about a draft of individual songs. The Ultimate Mixtape Draft Game?

Depends on what he's up against, because I like almost all of his list. Might have to vote for him inspite of the GHs albums.

What's my other greatest hits album besides Hot Rocks, which I drafted before I realized no one was drafting greatest hits albums.

let's just say it's a genre - no one's mentioned. I'll give you a hint - it's a soundtrack.

A "song" list would be cool.

Yeah, that would be fun. Looking over my list for this draft, I still have 22 artists on my list that have not had an album drafted yet.

I give up. I have no idea what either of those two statements mean.

OK, for the record it wasn't the Basement Tapes, but I was thinking of using The Gray Album as my no. 10.

The other thing is paraphrased from Liquid Swords.

...or maybe people just really love the music on their list. I get your point, but just because an album is critically or commercially successful doesn't preclude it from being a personal favorite.

Now that's an idea I like. Like my johnson, my depth chart is long and distinguished.

I like your thinking but I think allowing bootlegs would cause too many questions.

These days, what constitutes a bootleg?

illennium 11-03-05 12:57 PM

Voting will be challenging because there are quite a few albums on the list that I haven't heard--Soul Coughing, X, Yaz, Kate Bush, Tift Merritt, and at least 10 others. With the DVD draft, I had either seen all the movies or at least had a very good sense whether or not I would like them. But with some of these albums, I have nothing to go on. I could love them or hate them.
