Head's up to those who are picking up the releases individually: Remain in Light is $9.99 at Best Buy for an unspecified period of time. It's in one of those "Essential Albums" endcaps, so it doesn't really state when the sale price ends. The other three are at regular price (Talking Heads '77 is $16.99, and More Songs.. and Fear of Music are $14.99).

As an aside rant on the DualDisc format, I was naturally looking forward to listening to the remastered Remain in Light once I got back in the car; though, my [Sony] Discman (the car's only CD-playing device) just didn't want to read the disc (turns out that the disc doesn't securely fasten into the spindle). I really think the format is lame; I mean, what good is a format when you're not even guaranteed to be able to listen to the music? Isn't that the reason that we spend money on an album?

I can confirm that the 2-disc UK imports (available at amazon.co.uk) contain a real DVD-A and a real CD, and are non-region coded and NTSC. In other words, if you're willing to spend a little more for the imports, you can avoid the dread dualdisc format!

First four releases are out now. The next wave hits February 13 (I think).

I picked up Fear of Music and Remain in Light. These are the first DualDiscs I've purchased that neither my car nor my computer will recognize. A bit frustrating, but the DVD-A sound is spectacular.

Thanks for the confirmation on those! I originally hesitated because I didn't know what format/region the DVDs were, so thanks!

I've never been one to hold back on spending a little extra on imports, so import them I shall!

Well la di da. They wouldn't play in his Honda or was it a Hyndai?

I haven't tried playing them in the puter or car players-just the home.

This finally arrived in my mailbox today, and I'm in love. The 5.1 mixes are really, really amazing, particularly "Once In A Lifetime." I'm actually noticing percussion parts that I had never knew existed!

i know what you mean! i think they (jerry harrison) were just awarded for the quality/sound of this set. it's well deserved, and this is an excellent set that should definitely replace all old cds if you're a heads fan.

I bought the Brick last week, and the discs came in good condition. More Songs... had a few scratches, but my Remain in Light didn't come with an art print, and the cover of the booklet for 77 was damaged. I emailed Rhino asking if they could send me a new booklet and the art print, and a week later they sent me an email telling me to ship the set to California (I live in Florida)...That was not an option, for such an expensive set. I took it to the record store where I bought it, and they gave me a new one. The discs are good, and it had the art print and such, but I just noticed that the back of the booklet for Speaking in Tongues was ripped. What's with the horrible quality control over at Rhino?

Quality control seems not to be a priority with them. Check out the Bjork catalogue in 5.1 thread to read how they messed up her latest box set.

I've had no problems with the dualdiscs... they all play fine on my DVD player and they ripped great on my computer. The only problems I've had is with the packaging.

This new video came across my feed recently, and it's a pretty amazing performance by Saoirse Ronan

Well, she is certainly overqualified for a music video actor, but that was cool.

Why a 48 year old song needs a new music video at all is beyond me though.

I would hope it's to generate buzz for a reunion but that won't be necessary. So the next reason would be money. The sound never had a music video and YouTube is a big platform. Or course they could claim any motorization on non official videos. Maybe younger listener will discover them?

I wondered the same thing, but apparently it was the 50th anniversary of their first gig (at CBGBs).
