For me, there's just so many more important bands, that focus on writing solid albums, and don't focus on what eyeliner to wear or what color their hair should be. That to me is just a repeat of all the shitty glam bands we saw in the eighties. Honestly, who listens to Winger or Ratt anymore?
True enough, and I get where you're coming from. Believe me, I've been working in the music industry in some way, shape or form for the past 20 odd years - so I've more than seen my share of fads and flavors of the week. Like you pointed out, this shit all goes in cycles, and this is just the latest one.
I'm just saying that for what it is, it's still pretty good. Out of the loads of other pop/punk/emo/screamo crap bands out there, I can at least enjoy listening to them, and accepting them for what they are. No more, no less. They may well be the musical equivalent of junk food - but every now and then, I can appreciate having some of that, too.

how is Infinity On High compared to the last album? I listened to From Under The Cork Tree numerous times but almost every song sounded the same to me, although I loved the singles. I love This Ain't A Scene, but I'm unsure if I want to invest in a FOB cd again, but I've heard people say this album is much more diverse than the predecessor. Can someone who owns both cd's vouch for this?
And yes, I know I am way too old to listen to this type of music, but I don't care. I loved My Chemical Romance's last album too

The extra best buy tracks are finally up at www.falloutboy.islandrecords.com/bestbuy . You can d/l 2 tracks, a "funkrock" remix of This Ain't A Scene... and a new song G.I.N.A.S.F.S. I actually like them both, especially the new track. The remix is pretty good but gets old fast, it doesn't fundamentally change the song all that much.

I admittedly have no idea what I'm doing with these d/l files from the Best Buy promotion, but I cannot get these songs to do anything in my computer. It keeps saying they're protected, does this mean I can't import them into iTunes or burn them to my own disc? I'm not trying to subvert the copy protection, but I did legally obtain these from their promotion, I'm just trying to find out if there is an allowed way to burn these onto my own mp3 cd or import them to iTunes.

pls don't use the word 'punk' to describe f.o.b.
it only shows that you don't know what punk is
i'm not trying to be hardcore or elitist about it.... it's just the truth
they are POP in the truest sense of the word
word
and punk isn't restricted to the rock genre
dead prez, wu-tang and early public enemy are more punk than f.o.b.

I heard that Beat It cover on the radio the other day, and I honestly thought it WAS Alien Ant Farm! I think their version of Smooth Criminal has a slight edge over this.
I do like Fall Out Boy though.

Was just listening to them the other day. Great, great band.

It's funny how prescient my post re: FOB from 2005 was. My only exposure to this band has been through video games.

Who gives a shit who labels a band anything? In my personal labeling system, Fall Out Boy is absolutely the best punk band going and Nickelback is the greatest heavy metal band of all time.
It doesn't change the music and adds (IMHO) a false layer of pure bullshit to the popularity, or lack of popularity, to a band.
