I completely agree, on both counts!
This is also one album I've bought more times than any other. Back in the vinyl days, I literally wore out at least three copies from playing it so much. It was also one of the very first CDs I bought (back in early 1987), and I've gotten each of the remastered versions of it, too.

The news is a few weeks old, but looks like we'll see the next album (Black Ice) before the end of the year...

‘Black Ice’ gets its release date.
AC/DC’s new studio album ‘Black Ice’ has been given a release date of October 21st.
The first single to come from ‘Black Ice’ will be ‘Rock n’ Roll Train’ and will hit radio stations in the US on August 28th. A source at Harddrive Radio suggests that the song is “smoking hot. It’s AC/DC like we love them, loud, anthemic and hard!”
The band will travel to England in early August to shoot a video for ‘Rock n’ Roll Train’ before allegedly starting their world tour in Chicago on Halloween.

^ Oh my God.... I'm really looking forward to the new album and the tour, and having a supposed solid street date is an excellent sign that my hopes won't be crushed!

AC/DC Sets Date, Track List For 'Black Ice' (August 18, 2008 , 10:00 AM ET)
![]() | Here is the track list: "Rock 'n' Roll Train" "Skies on Fire" "Big Jack" "Anything Goes" "War Machine" "Smash n Grab" "Spoilin' for a Fight" "Wheels" "Decibel" "Stormy May Day" "She Likes Rock 'n' Roll" "Money Made" "Rock'n'Roll Dream" "Rocking All the Way" "Black Ice" |
As expected, AC/DC's new album, "Black Ice," will be sold exclusively in the U.S. via Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and the band's Web site, beginning Oct. 20. First single "Rock'n'Roll Train" will hit U.S. radio on Aug. 28.
In an unusual move, the exclusive release comes with the full cooperation of AC/DC's label home, Columbia, which says it is planning "multiple activities for fans" leading up to street date.
The 15-track "Black Ice" was produced by Brendan O'Brien and is the follow-up to 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip." In true AC/DC fashion, no less than four songs feature "rock'n'roll" in the title. An extensive world tour in support of the set will begin in late October.
In addition, Columbia will on Sept. 9 release "No Bull: The Director's Cut," a newly edited DVD of AC/DC's July 1996 show at Madrid's Plaza De Toros De Las Ventas.

Song with "Rock And Roll" in the title? Check. (x3)
Song with "money" in the title? Check.
Song with "jack" in the title? Check.
Looks like AC/DC is in midseason form.

Disagree "Flick of the Switch" is a great album, and "Fly on the Wall" is a really good album, now i do agree that "Blow up your Video" is pretty bad, IMO it is there worst album, it is the only AC/DC cd that i don't own, anyway can't wait to hear the new album "Black Ice".

Not my favorite AC/DC album, that honor goes to "The Razors Edge" but agree with you on "Touch Too Much" it is the best song on "Highway To Hell", with "Walk All Over You" a very close second.

No love for Powerage?
I've got their entire catalog and Powerage is by far the best.
Down Payment Blues,Gimme A Bullet,Up To My Neck In You are just a few high lights of an incredible album.
As far as Highway goes,I'd have to flip a coin between Night Prowler and Touch Too Much.

For my money AC/DC hasn't put out a great album since Flick of the Switch in '83. Fly on the Wall was decent, I even like Blow Up Your Video, but I found The Razor's Edge to be disappointing, and everything since that album has been mediocre - but welcomed anyway because it was a new AC/DC album.
If this is going to be their last album I sure hope it meets the late 70's to early 80's standards they set...

Agreed. Powerage is probably in my top 5 of favorite albums of all time (maybe #1 depending on my mood). I've interviewed many bands for magazines/radio and one of my trademark questions was "what's your favorite AC/DC album?" and you'd be impressed with how many people have picked "Powerage".
Whenever I've been at my lowest points in life, all I have to do is put on "Powerage" and it makes everything better.

I like Powerage, quite a bit - but I don't love it. My fave tune off of it is probably "Riff Raff".
It does, however, seem to be very much one of "those" type albums, that despite not being a huge seller, is a big fan fave and a musician's pick, too. Maybe it's because it was the last truly raw, rock & roll album the band did before they moved onto the likes of more big name producers and greater success.
I remember, many years ago, seeing The Black Crowes (right after they put out Shake Your Moneymaker) and Junkyard (anyone remember them?) play a local bar, and BOTH bands each played something off of Powerage as an encore. The Crowes did "Rock 'n' Roll Damnation" and Junkyard did "Sin City".

I just put in Stiff Upper Lip for the first time in years....
...and MAN, what a pile! Sludgy, slow dirges that have none of the life, energy, or great riffs and vocal melodies that made the best AC/DC stuff so great. I had forgotten how bad this album was. (OK, bad compared to their better albums.)
I hope the 8 year wait was worth it.

And hey, at least it was an album of original material, and not re-recordings of older songs. *ducks*

The shitty part is the song is actually called Runaway Train.
That does sound a little bit better than the rumoured Rock N Roll Train.
Bring it on!

From the first few listens, this is definitely molded after 'Highway to Hell'.
I really like it except for the back chorus ('runnin right off the track..'). A better lyric there would really push this into a great song for me. Angus still has it! I'm really looking forward to this album.

Is that confirmed on the track name (makes sense after hearing it)? The MySpace page and their site still go with 'Rock 'N Roll Train' even though they do say 'Runaway Train' in the lyrics. Seems like Rock 'N Roll train would be just as good, if not better for lyrics.

Rock N Roll Train sounds more like a Kiss album/or song, than anything DC would put out.
I've played that clip back at least 20 times and I still can;t here any mention of Rock N Roll Train in it.

I agree that's what the lyrics say, no mention of Rock 'n Roll Train.
But I disagree on what sounds better. When I think 'Runaway Train', I think of that horrible song by Soul Asylum called (guess what?) 'Runaway Train'. UGH! (called you up in the middle of the night.. blah, blah...)
Rock N Roll Train would have fit nicely ** IF ** they would have put it in the lyrics... or especially the back chorus.
It does play some on Crazy Train ("'runnin right off the track..'" vs. "going of the rails", for one)
Others:
Let there be rock
Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
Rock'n Roll Singer
Rock'n Roll Damnation
Rocker
Let There Be Rock
For Those About To Rock
Long Way to the top (if you want to rock n roll)
Edit: "Rock N Roll Train" is nowhere close to a Kiss title. Maybe an early Def Leppard, Guess Who, BTO, maybe even Bruce Springsteen or George Thorogood. It would fit perfectly with AC/DC as a title, IMO.
