COUGHBUMPCOUGH
I picked up Mesmerize the day it came out, and listened to it twice that day and probably once a day for about 2 weeks after. Damn catchy, love it.
Saw this concert last night (at Sunrise at the ODC), and the openers were actually Bad Acid Trip (which was ok...dug the music...not the singer's voice too much...sound like they were imitating SOAD). Mars Volta were INCREDIBLE. I thought I was witnessing something like Santana from like Woodstock era. My only complaint? So very loud. I doubt though that the volume was higher, it's just that their sound can be more cacophonous (sp?)...they had a total of 8 musicians onstage!
SOAD was damn impressive too, had the crowd in the palm of their hand so to say. Just a damn great show overall.

Here's hoping!

I wouldn't call it fruity, but I'm pretty dissapointed with it from a lyrical point. I love the music, but I find most of the lyrics a little too laughable. I found their earlier work to be much more interesting and engaging. Either way, I still really enjoy them, and LOVE Mars Volta, so I'll def. be at the Portland show.
