I saw the "Final Dress Rehearsal" last night at LA Sports Arena. I was one of the idiot fans who hang out all day, hoping to get it, and Bono delivered. At about 2:30pm he came out to the 60 of us waiting, and said he would try and get us in. At about 5:30pm the crowd had got to about 150+ and a mgr type came out, did a quick head count, and escorted us in. Great show, and I look forward to Monday Night....

Oh and here is the exact setlist and info from the "Final Rehearsal" (A little different than above)
Spoiler:
Plus a pic of Bono for you! http://www.u2preservation.com/junk/IMG_3814med.jpg |
nice write up chris.
|
Thanks for the write up Chrisedge.
Can't wait for this concert! I have to wait until September 12th to see them. The good thing is that I was able to score tickets, is okay if I have to wait. |
<-- still doesn't have any tickets to the first leg of the friggin' tour.
Dammit. |
For those who went to the San Diego show, care to review the concert?
|
Oh, man. Saturday at the Pond can't come soon enough for me. Avoiding the final set list. What are an Cat dubh, The Electric Co. and 40?
|
Just got back from the concert here in san diego.. all i have to say is that it was amazing.. they sounded great, the light show was awsome, and the set list was alot of the new disk and classic u2.. word of advise.. get there early.. I missed about 20 minutes of kings of leon cause the line to get in was so long and it was moving slow.. took me about an hour to get in.. other than that, i wish i was going wedsday too.
|
Wow, U2! They were one my favorite band back in the 90s! :D
|
Setlist?
|
WOW....Not playing my favorite U2 song ever("With or Without You") and no "I Still haven't found what I'm Looking for". I was there in San Diego, the energy was great, but the song selection was suspect. There were a group of people who started screaming for "Acrobat"....sadly they did not play it.
|
Good to see Running To Stand Still and Zoo Station on there and a few other rarities.
I wish they would take the group which includes One, Bullet The Blue Sky, Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, Where The Streets Have No Name, The Fly, and Pride and then cut them in half and play them on alternate nights. I really have no desire to hear all of those songs again every night. |
My GA Tickets have the Required FAN on them, but I guess its still somewhat of a lottery to see if you get into the Egg.
At least I don't have to lineup all day. At SD they started lining up early and at 6:30am one person was #190 in the unofficial line. madness. |

I got GA tickets for Chicago 5/12 (which was added so no presale). I was in Propoganda but didn't pay the $40 to join U2.com since it was never offered as something that would get a GA person closer than a non-U2.com GA person. To me GA has always meant first come, first served. But if I won't have to sit in line all day like w/Elevation it may not be all bad, so I'm curious as to the exact details... Thanks. |
atu2.com described it like this.
There are 2 lines, one for u2.com members, and one for non u2.com members. And then I guess your tickets get scanned on entering, if it goes blue you are in the egg, otherwise you are outside. http://www.vertiblog.com/ and the other info culled from reading wire |

and From U2.com how to get in the Ellipse
29.03.2005 The ‘Elipse’ … And How To Get A Place The elipse, the heart, the circle, the ‘Vertigo Club’ in front of the stage – here’s how to get in. Last night in San Diego we successfully piloted a new system aimed at creating a fairer way for fans to gain entry into the area in front of the stage (the ‘elipse’, which is the equivalent to the ‘heart’ area on the Elevation Tour). We understand there was a little bit of confusion as to how it works. Let us explain. People who bought their GA tickets in the U2.Com presale LINE UP IN ONE SPECIFIC AREA, people who bought their GA tickets in the general sale LINE UP IN A SEPARATE AREA. As you enter, a ticket scanner randomly selects from the two lines those who gain entrance to the elipse. The system was a big success last night, with lots of you telling us that it was much fairer – for example it does not penalise people who have to work in the daytime and cannot get to the show hours beforehand to get in line. The new system means that being first in the queue does not guarantee access to the elipse as on previous tours. Sorry if any of you had plans to camp days ahead of any of the shows - being first in line guarantees nothing. Chat about the new system here “Last time around I queued from six am but still never got in the heart,’ said Al Schooling from Alta Loma. ‘This time I came just before the show and I’m in! I can’t believe it!’ As the new system was successful, we are going to continue it for the foreseeable future. Here’s the small print on entrance to the elipse: 1) All General Admission Tickets holders enter though a designated entry point 2) All General Admission ticket holders will be asked to form two lines at this entry point: a. U2.Com Presale floor Ticket purchasers b. General Public Floor Ticket Purchasers 3) Venue staff will explain to fans the wrist banding procedure that they will encounter upon entering: a. All floor ticket holders will receive a wristband upon entry b. There is an enclosed Elipse area similar to Elevation Tour “heart” c. Selection will be on a random basis using a computer ticket scanner that verifies the tickets and by a random numerical process, selects tickets for the Ellipse d. Each ticket selected for the Elipse will enable both the ticket holder and their companion accompanying them into the Elipse. e. Each selected ticket and that of their companion will be stamped upon selection and they will be directed to the Elipse wrist banding station. f. Random selection will continue for the full capacity of the floor. (From the first person arriving to the last person arriving, everyone will have an equal opportunity to enter the Ellipse) g. The wristbands will provide reentry privileges to their respective areas 4) Those that do not get selected will be instructed to proceed directly to the floor. |

Thanks for the info. on this supposed new way of GA admittance.
But what about for shows where there was no presale, i.e. those shows added at the last minute online (like here in Chicago). I'm going to try not get all worked up over whatever the system is, but I do want to be able to plan accordingly. I don't believe it, though, that waiting in line all day means nothing, because if you're NOT chosen to enter the egg, you'll enter the main GA area in order, so if you show up late you'll end up in the back, it would seem... |

I have to say, seeing the set list (the great thing about the internet and the worst thing about the internet for concerts) I would definitely pass and just go by the memories of other tours years ago.
