LOL, great pic.

Weren't they gonna put all the shows up on iTunes or something? Are they still planning on doing that?

Chrisedge 04-16-05 10:05 PM

Well, doesn't look like the iTunes thing is gonna work out. I was there for both Phoenix shows, got in the Elipse night one, and taped night two. (GA)

I've been to 32 U2 shows and PHX2 was the closest I've ever been...

Chris, that's an awesome shot. Sweet!

That picture ROCKS - thanks for posting it.

I just found out a few days ago that I'm going to the MSG show on 5/21 - I'm just glad now that I don't have to wait until October to see them.

I have just one question, how does one get a freaking camera into the concert when the tickets specifically said NO CAMERAS OR RECORDERS? I was rejected at the gates when I was there was my camera. To make a long story short, I was extremely pissed to find out once I went through all the trouble to drop my camera off at home, some people got in with their cameras and flashed away.

BDB 04-18-05 04:50 PM

at the U2 concerts you are allowed to take in non-pro cameras, anything with a long lens will be take off you.

Disposables and compact digitals are fine. Posters were all up outside the venue in SJ stating as much.

Bump for the Chicago shows.

I put 3 short video clips from the above concert on my Vertigo Page

Hollowgen 05-09-05 03:59 PM

i should add that i felt the second show in seattle was great. while the elevation tour was nice, this one blew me away. massive production, excellent sound, and they were energetic as hell. i've never paid this much for a concert ticket in my life ($160), but i feel it was worth it. and hey, they played vertigo twice. i found it amusing.

Chrisedge, what camera do you own, those pictures are crystal clear. My pics are all dark and/or fuzzy, but it's a compact camera, so I wasn't expecting much. The videos the camera took turned out really good picture-quality wise, the sound obviously was a bit tinny.

I saw the show last night, enjoyed it enough, does seem to lack inspiration, I don't know exactly, maybe they needed the glitz and giant screens of the old tours.

I borrowed a Sony DSC-M1
http://www.sonystyle.com/intershopro...x180/DSCM1.jpg

Keep in mind, I took over 330 pictures and video clips so I ended up with about 40 pictures that turned out nice. Many blurry or so-so pictures in the bunch.

PerryD 05-10-05 04:28 PM

Thanks for the info! Any particular picture setting that worked better for you? I tried many different settings (night mode, fireworks, indoor party(?), dusk, auto) on my camera, and all were terrible. Low-light modes were very blurry, regular modes were very dark. Funny thing is that the videos looked great and is how I'd like the pictures to look, but at a high resolution, so it may be user error on taking the pictures.

Chrisedge 05-10-05 05:15 PM

I had varying luck between flash and no flash. I was close enough for no flash, but the higher shutter speeds with the flash seemed to help with getting a higher shutter speed.

All the camera geeks need not suggest anything for me, I borrowed the camera IN the arena, and had no time to figure out how to do ANYTHING on it. :)

I liked the camera enough to want to buy one, but will try out a few before I decide on my next digital.

The MP4 video capability is pretty cool too.

PerryD 05-12-05 05:24 PM

I have tickets for September, so I think I'll get a nicer digital camera before then, perhaps the Canon S2 IS, which according to dpreview is supposed to handle low light very well. And the 12x zoom will be really nice to have. The Canon S2 is quite a bit larger than the current Nikon Coolpix 5200 I have, but it should still fit easily in a coat pocket to sneak into the concert.

saw the show last night

I went to the September 12th show in Toronto and it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended.

They have also changed their playlist a little bit from what Chrisedge indicated at the beginning of this thread.

They played old favorites like "I will follow", "With or Without You" and "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" which was my personal highlight for me.

Plus we were able to surprise Bono with singing along with him especially on "One" where he kept uttering "Wow" a couple of times.

I couldn't agree more. I have seen u2 like 30 times, and I have seen them 8 times in Toronto and this was by far the best. First of all, u2 play 2 hours every night, this night they played just shy of 2 and half. They even added another encore not on the soundboard setlist. The crowd was insane which is weird for Toronto. I also noticed Bono say "wow" to the Edge several times. Bono was also lost for words several times, which never happens. His voice was incredible, and it was the best sounding arena show I have ever heard from the floors. I'm downloading the show right now, I can't wait to hear it again.

neiname 10-08-05 11:00 PM

Saw them at MSG tonight. Awesome show and they topped the encore list with Wild Horse and finished with With or Without You. As those are my favorite two songs (Wild Horses #1) I was estatic. I doubt I could go to another 10 shows and hear Wild Horses played again.

PerryD 10-10-05 11:13 AM

I did end up buying the new Canon S2 IS camera, and it performed flawlessly at the Chicago show I saw a couple weeks back. Here are some of the pictures I took, no touch-up other than shrinking them down in size and extra jpeg compression. I had 8th row seats off to the side, but you can see below with the 12x zoom, I had no problem getting very close pictures.
