well, when I first heard of it the John Mayer/Kanye West collaboration for Kanye's upcoming new album I would have thought that was unusual, but then I found out for some reason every hip hop musician, rapper, gangsta, and playa has John Mayer in their system. It's weird, I read an article just about this and was also reading something on musician's iPod playlists and they all have Mayer songs on their lists. What's up? They need a token white guy to praise?

More recently, how about William Shatner, Adrian Belew, and Henry Rollins for "I Can't Get Behind That"? Pretty eclectic mix and its a great track, too.

i think the pairings of william shatner and/or leonard nimoy to music is unusual itself.

roseanne and the star spangled banner.

and lets not forget the countless number of celebrities 'singing' "take me out to the ball game" at cubs games.
