Moreso in hip hop, Ill at least give the album a fair listen because of the producers. Pharrel (Jay-z, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Busta Rhymes), Kanye West (JayZ,Slum Village), Timbaland (Aaliyah, Missy Elliot), Dr Dre (Eminem, 50 Cent). Most hip hop producers usually release their own albums as well which are sometimes good and sometimes horrible.

Every now and then I'll get a hip-hop release because of a certain producer that I like.

Most recently I bought Donavon Frankenreiter's disc because it was produced by Jack Johnson.

Back in the day my friend and I were huge Nine Inch Nails fans and he bought Marylin Manson's first CD because it was produced by Trent Reznor. To say that we were let down is an understatement.

Sometimes. At least I give a listen to most of what The Neptunes, Dr. Dre, The Dust Brothers or Brendan O'Brian (sp?) produced.

No, not really. I'm might pay a tiny bit more attention if Daniel Lanois or Brian Eno is involved.

I might get more excited about an album from an artist I already like if certain engineers/producers were involved (Steve Albini comes to mind), but that's about it.

Not sure if I'd ever buy an album totally because of him, but Steve Lillywhite has probably produced 8-10 of my top 20 favorite albums ever.
