Any track listing yet?
It's highly unusual for a box set not to have a track listing (even leaked) this close to the release date. |
I just checked around, wasn't able to find anything. One way or another we'll have it in less than a month. :)
|
I read in ICE Magazine yesterday that the DVD is a 'limited' deal, is there any other news pertaining to this...
personally I would love to see (or hear) the legendary 1992 Reading Music Festival performance. Anyone know if this set was broadcast in audio or video form on BBC radio/tv? |

I think it'll be pushed back too.

From what I've been reading on a Nirvana board, people are speculating Universal's holding a tracklisting for piracy reasons. For example, if they release a tracklisting, someone "creates" the album from the various live versions, bootlegs, etc. that are out there and upload them to the file sharing networks. Have no idea if this is the real reason or not, and to me this doesn't sound like something that would greatly impact sales if it did happen....but thems record companies are quite freaky these days.

From this link
Apparently a press release has been sent out in Germany concerning the Nirvana box set - listing the five songs that will appear on a promotional sampler given to radio stations and certain retail stores. The songs listed: - White Lace and Strange - Previously unreleased radio performance, 1987 - Blandest - Previously unreleased demo, 1988 - Lithium - Previously unreleased solo acoustic, 1990 - Heart-Shaped Box - Previously unreleased demo, 1993 - You Know You're Right - Previously unreleased solo acoustic, 1994 Out of these I believe that "White Lace and Strange", "Blandest" and the acoustic version of "Lithium" are already circulating in trader circles. It depends on which version of "Lithium" they have used, though. "Heart-Shaped Box" could also be a version currently circulating if they are referring to the 1993 Rio demo. But while most of these songs are currently available to many fans, the officially released version will most likely be superior in quality compared to bootleg copies. The complete tracklisting of the box is not yet available, unfortunately, but it is rumoured to be made available about one week prior to the release. |
according to nirvanaclub.com, here's the cover art for the boxset

About friggin' time!
Looks amazing! There's a few songs that I didn't know existed! Excellent choice of songs. I'm so glad they didn't pick all the "hits". Looks like this really was done for the fans, which was a smart thing to do (because everyone has all the other stuff already!) |
I'm a little disappointed in the tracklist. There should be a fourth cd so all of the well known stuff could be on there.
|
Not a bad set, I even like the cover art... (is this going to be released in an actual box, then?).
The only things that really look to be missing are "Do You Love Me?" and "Spank Thru," though the latter is on the DVD. |

Once again, I thought they did an excellent, excellent job on the track listing. The only other thing I would've liked to have seen would've been another disc of a full concert (either Reading '92 or one of the Jan '93 shows). Can't wait to see that DVD too. I know there's no way it's going to be able to top "Live! Tonight! Sold Out!", but it will be interesting to see what other footage they have out there. |

:D |
Looks cool, although I don't buy CD's anymore.
Good looking set. |
Looks good, but I was hoping all their music videos would be included on the DVD. Hopefully we will get these in the future along with a DVD version of "Live! Tonight! Sold Out!".

I deplore box sets, I don't like the big boxes cause they get beat up and don't fit in my rack, I read the booklets once and never look at em again plus nowadays the CDs are in cheap ass digipaks blah blah blah.
However, they could sell this Nirvana set with all four discs shoved in a steaming pile of fresh manure on an old moldy rotten wooden shingle all wrapped up in old bloody used hospital guaze and I'd still shell out the $50+ bucks for it and clutch it to my chest in a heartbeat! All I can add is... about fuckin' time! November is gonna be a great month. :D -Gunshy |

So, does this mean that 'You Know You're Right' from the GH disc is not included on this release?
The track with that name on disc three claims it is previously unreleased. |
