R. Kelly - Happy People / U Saved Me (2004)
Anyone else had a chance to hear it? The Happy People CD is pretty good, but then again I really enjoy R. Kelly's "steppin' songs"
Real good beats, nice songs for the most part.

I recently heard it and was dissapointed with the album. It sounded nothing like "Chocolate Factory," which I think is a better album then this brand new one. I did not really enjoy any of the beats on any of the songs, which is probably the main reason why I did not enjoy the album.

Double albums are always better if they'd been cut down to one album.
The 3-Way Phone Call in the gospel side is interesting with R and Kelly Price singing some sort of spiritual awakening phone call conversation.
He really can turn up the volume on the church stuff and histrionics.
It's enjoyable for people who like the R.

Gotta admit...
I like the Happy People disc. It's not really the vocals, but the music. Especially the fifth track Ladies' Night [Treat Her Like A Urina...err...Lady].

I enjoy R. Kelly's music, so I'm surprised I didn't know this was coming out. I thought his next release was going to be an album with Baby from Big Tymers. I guess I should've known, after hearing a single on the radio that wasn't on any previous album. I'll be looking forward to this one.

The record labels really know how to work it.
This album will sell at 500,000 copies and debut at #1.
It's just smart to price it sooo low for the opening week. Although R. Kelly's core fanbase is very loyal to him. It doesn't matter what charges may be against him, because nobody has lasted in R&B the way he has.

This is so true. When Chocolate Factory came out, my mom and a co-worker refused to by his CD. I told them they were missing out on a good R. Kelly cd. Both purchased the cd and realized I was right.
Also, here in NYC, when R. Kelly / Jay Z's Best of Both Worlds came out, you rarely heard any of the songs (at least I didn't). Just recently, I heard the radio stations playing songs from the album. Don't know if this has to Jay Z's fan base or R. Kelly's however.

Jay-Z And R. Kelly To Tour Together This Fall
Jay-Z and R. Kelly are back on the same page and are currently finalizing plans for their long-awaited Best of Both Worlds tour. The trek is scheduled to hit more than 40 cities, with the first stop being Kelly's hometown of Chicago on September 30 and the last date being November 28 in Phoenix.
The team declined to reveal any details about the outing, but advised fans to be prepared for anything.
"We want people to be genuinely shocked and awed, we're on a shock-and-awe campaign," Hova said in a video statement released Thursday.
"We want to blow up the world," Kelly added. "In any arena we go to, we want to give them something they've never seen before. You never know what [can] happen when me and Jay get on that stage — we're spontaneous."
Tour dates will be announced soon; it is unclear if the tour will follow an itinerary similar to the one detailed in R. Kelly's court documents last month.
Prior to the release of the pair's joint LP, The Best of Both Worlds, in March 2002, Jay-Z and Kelly announced they would tour to support the album. However, child-pornography charges were filed against Kelly shortly before the album's release and plans for the tour were postponed. The two did perform songs from the album onstage last year, during Jay-Z's concert at Madison Square Garden in November.
Both men have reigned over their respective genres of music since The Best of Both Worlds was released. Jay-Z is nominated for six MTV Video Music Awards this year stemming from The Black Album, and Kelly's new double-LP, Happy People/ U Saved Me, comes out on Tuesday.

Yeah, we are a forgiving country, we love to give people second chances. And if you provide us with hit record after hit record, well then you are guaranteed to be accepted again.
Of course I don't agree with his lifestyle (along with 90% of artists out there), but R. Kelly produces amazing R&B music. I'm gonna go pick up the 2 CD set and maybe even Chocolate Factory as well...been meaning to get that.

I'm a big fan of the Chocolate Factory album (and pretty much all of the previous R. Kelly albums), and I believe that, all personal turmoil aside, R. Kelly is one of the most talented artists in the music business. However, I don't really dig these new discs. Almost all of the songs on the Happy People album are very good (I love that Red Carpet song) but only if taken individualy. After about 3 or 4 of those "stepping" songs in a row, I get tired of that whole feel. And I've always felt that his "inspirational" tracks usually step over that corny line. The idea for 3 Way Conversation is a good, creative idea on paper, but I found it cheesy in it's actual implementation. The whole "conversation style" songwriting worked better for me when it was Ron Isley, Kelly, and whatever female singer of the moment they wanted to throw on the track. In the end, I respect that with this set, R. Kelly has chosen to take a different artistic direction (he could have just released a half-assed collection of "Thoia Thoing" knock-offs and sold a few million) but unfortunately, to me, that new direction didn't really pan out.

I absolutely love the steppin' album...it flows (for the most part) so well it's ridiculous. Honestly, I could never get sick of his beats and rhymes on that album. The funk, R&B, hip-hop mix is amazing and very addictive.

Haven't had a chance to listen to the cd, as I've been listening to Mase, 213 and Young Buck. I'm leaving for school this weekend, so my 4 hr drive will give me plenty of time to listen to R. Kelly.

Well more like 50 cent, but hey, can't have too much of 50 cent.
Actually just listened to the Young Buck and Mase cds. Kinda like Young Buck's cd. Mase, I'm sure, will grow on me. I'm working on the R. Kelly cd. 213 is decent as well.
8/27: Finally had a chance to listen to the Happy People cds. I never thought that happiness could piss me off so damn much. The cd is nice, but like someone previous said, there's only so much stepping one can take. The 1st cd has the same beats even though the songs are different. I was so happy to hear a slow song, only to get to the telephone conversation. I have to listen to the cd again during my drive early Sunday morning. Hopefully, R. Kelly won't cause me to get a ticket.

Doesn't this album have a limited edition package that includes a special bonus dvd with "peeing" sessions, multiple angle views, and audio commentary of his encounters with underage girls?

Young Buck's CD isn't too good in my opinion. As for 213, Mase and R. Kelly's, they are all good in their own respects. Mase's is okay, but you'll find a couple songs here and there to be pretty catchy. 213 and R. Kelly are the ones to get for sure.
