I have one to add to this thread. I don't know what is actually being said in the song, it's in Korean, but this one is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard in my life. It's on the OST for The Classic, and is track #14:

nuh moo ah peun sarang eun sarang ee ah ni yut seum eul - Kim Kwang Suk

I'd love to hear more from Kim Kwang Suk, but this is the only thing I have of him. I was also quite saddened to learn that he passed away years ago. That fact makes this song even that much more haunting.

Few songs have touched me as this one has. It also says a great deal about music overall. At times, it's about more than just words...it's about the feeling, the emotion in the music and vocals.

If any of you have any of his other songs that I could hear, please let me know. :D

Eyes of the World- Grateful Dead

I think the title of the song translate to "If this love wasn't very painful". Mind you my Korean is rusty so if anybody else can translate that better, please go ahead.

Not a fan of the version by Derek and the Dominoes though.

I love all three, and Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs would rank as my pick for most beautiful album (even in the face of Gordon's insanity), but SRV's version tops my list for song.

Also,

Godspeed - Radney Foster (covered later by the Dixie Chicks)
Crying - Roy Orbison
Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones
God Only Knows - The Beach Boys

Todd Rundgren - I Saw The Light
Blind Melon - Change

In reference to me suggesting "Cupid" by Jack Johnson as a truly beautiful song.

It's on Jack Johnson's second album, On and On.

It's track 6 on the album.

Here are the lyrics:

Well, how many times must we go through this
You've always been mine,
Woman I thought You knew this
How many times must we go through this
You'll always be mine.

Cupid only misses sometimes... mmmhmm.

Mmmhmm.

But we could end up broken-hearted,
if we don't remember why all this started
And if they try to tell you that love fades with time
Tell them there's no such thing as time.

It's our time.

It's our time.

It's our time.

It's our time.

Damn, that's a good one, too.

So is Dreams Be Dreams... Hell, any song off his two albums are beautiful, IMO.

You like Mason Jennings too, huh? I noticed one of his songs off your list. Check out "Darkness Between the Fireflies". Another beautiful song.

Most, if not all of the Smashing Pumpkin's ballads.

Jazzbutcher 02-01-05 06:49 PM

Sacrificial Bonfire by XTC

conscience 02-01-05 08:06 PM

Hands of Time - Groove Armada ft. vocal of Richie Havens, Love Box

The rest of the cd is crap*2.

This song though (which was in Collateral) is such an excellent song only because of the beat and Havens's vocals. Soothing as hell.

Nights in White Satin, Moody Blues
Famous Blue Raincoat, Jennifer Warnes
Sanibel, Crosby Stills and Nash

The Bus 06-10-05 10:27 AM

Almost any song off of Electrelane's The Power Out. The beginning strums to "Gone Under Sea" still put me into a sort of trance. Their music is the kind of music that you want to play as loud as possible, but since it's not abrasive it can never be too loud.
