Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton is a heartbreaking but beautiful song he wrote about the death of his young son. It really chokes me up when I hear it. Another song that evokes the same feeling for me is Time by The Alan Parsons Project.

To me, the man with a lock on this category is Brian Wilson -- at his peak, his ability to turn out heartrending songs was uncanny. See: "God Only Knows", "Caroline No", "Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)", "Wonderful", etcetera.

Of course there were only three guys in the class (including me), as it was an Advanced Placement English class, but still...(if anyone just sits down and listens to the song it brings so much emotion). |
