Write your own Linkin Park song. It's easy.

Here I'll start a Linkin Park song

I'm so tired of being picked on
Everyone is draggin me down
I can't take this persecution
Why are they treating me like a clown?

Took 15 seconds.

Pretty good.

Consider you signed!

I like Linkin Park but you're right...it's all the same.

The world lines up to treat me cold…
I’m just a number, bought and sold…
But I won’t stay and be controlled…
I’ve got an old pair of Van’s I need re-soled.

Hey! This is pretty fun! Thanks, cungar.

Here's a test:

I cannot take this anymore
I'm saying everything I've said before
All these words they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance

Real or made up Linkin Park lyric?

Real. At least pick one of their lesser known songs.

i was about to do something bad
i was rotting real bad in side

just the shell of a guy
who once wore a hat

i feel bound to eternal pain
no one listens anyway
confine me to my prison of agony
just let me be, for no one understands my dilemmas and hurting and sad and angry and sad and angry and sad someone save me or i'll go crazy

[ Insert angst ridden verse]
[more angst]
[more angst with curse word!]
[final power granting angst all kids can agree on]

[insert token rap section]

[insert angst ridden chorus]

[insert angst ridden DJ scratchin]

repeat

But hey, like Rival11 said, its all for the kids? So if this keeps them from angsting out in real life I'm all for it. Teenage angst can be brutal. Go mallcore!

God knows one could laugh at some of my music, whoa nelly!

I can not differentiate this band from several of the other new rock bands out there, but don't you need to [insert boy band ballad section] then go right back into the chorus? Or is another one of the shit new rock bands that is the pissed-off boy band?

[Melody w/Power chord rythm]
I'm in the corner, my life in ruins
falling apart and licking my wounds
I hate my world and everyone in it
at the edge, I am staring into a pit

[rap bridge]
somebody push me, over the edge
somebody push me, coz I can't jump

[chorus]
It's a long way down, to salvation
help me get to salvation
salvation

[Bubble Beep Synth Hook]

Id rather do a song by one of the favorites amongst the "look at me Im cool cuz I like obscure bands" Music Talk posters.

Sigur Ros
(weird non descript string instrument that sounds like woahhonh)
(pots being hit with pencils)
(obscure crash)
(more weird noises that sound like urnnorrr)

Youre right it is easier doing Linkin Park songs. After all, onomatopoeia's can be difficult especially coming from some bands.

OK, I think this kinda fits here...

Rockin' The Suburbs
Ben Folds

Let me tell y'all what it's like
Being male, middle-class and white
It's a b*tch, if you don't believe
Listen up to my new CD
(Sha-mon)

I got sh*t runnin' throught my brain
It's so intense that I can't explain
All alone in my white-boy pain
Shake your booty while the band complains

I'm rockin' the suburbs
Just like Michael Jackson did
I'm rockin' the suburbs
Except that he was talented
I'm rockin' the suburbs
I take the cheques and face the facts
That some producer with computers fixes all my sh*tty tracks

I'm p*ssed off but I'm too polite
When people break in the McDonald's line
Mom and Dad you made me so uptight
I'm gonna cuss on the mic tonight

I don't know how much I can take
Girl, give me something I can break

I'm rockin' the suburbs
Just like Quiet Riot did
I'm rockin' the suburbs
Except that they were talented
I'm rockin' the suburbs
I take the cheques and face the facts
That some producer with computers fixes all my sh*tty tracks

In a haze these days
I pull up to the stop light
I can feel that something's not right
I can feel that someone's blasting me with hate
And bass
Sendin' dirty vibes my way
'Cause my great great great great Grandad
Made someones' great great great great Grandaddies slaves
It wasn't my idea
It wasn't my idea
Never was my idea

I just drove to the store
For some Preparation-H

Y'all don't know what it's like
Being male, middle-class and white
Y'all don't know what it's like
Being male, middle-class and white
Y'all don't know what it's like
Being male, middle-class and white
Y'all don't know what it's like
Being male, middle class and white

It gets me real p*ssed off, it makes me wanna say
It gets me real p*ssed off and it makes me wanna say
It gets me real p*ssed off and it makes me wanna say
*****!

Just like Jon Bon Jovi did
I'm rockin' the suburbs
Except that he was talented
I'm rockin' the suburbs
I take the cheques and face the facts
That some producer with computers fixes all my sh*tty tracks

These days
Yeah yeah
I'm rockin' the suburbs
Yeah yeah
I'm rockin' the suburbs
Yeah yeah

You'd better look out, because I'm gonna say '*****'
You'd better look out, because I'm gonna say '*****'
You'd better look out, because I'm gonna say '*****'
You'd better look out, because I'm gonna say '*****'

I think you are being a bit hard on Linkin Park. While their lyrics may not be varied in subject matter, how many bands truly are?

Most artists write about something they feel passionate about and then stick to what they know. How many pop artist sing about love? How many hip-hop artists sing about their fortune? etc.

So while Linkin Park tends to emphasise melodrama in their lyrics, there is more to their music than just the words by one band member. While the lyrics may not be that original they could be worse and the music is wuite original. LP is one of the more creative of the "nu-metal" style, for example: they incorporated a japanese flute in one of their songs.

It isn't worth writing off an artist for bad lyrics. There are many artists I enjoy that have "bad" lyrics: quarashi, NERD, (newer) red hot chili peppers, beastie boys, rob dougan, etc..

I think it is worth trying to keep an open mind about Linkin Park, if you listen to the albums as a whole rather than just the radio songs you might find out you like them like me.

Live in a house at the end of the street
Sweat pouring from the toes on my feet
Another night, I know she ai'nt comin' home
I'm watchin' the Spurs play in the Alamo Dome

(harder)
She's with him, just like all the other days
I chalked it up to just a temporary phaze
But now I'm sick of her runnin' around
Yet, I just can't get rid of that lingering sound

(Harder)
Tickin' in my head, can't stop the pulse
Knowing the love, between her and I is false
Its growing faster, at a feverous pace
A ticking time bomb in the middle of my face

(Harder!)
All these years, always watching over this girl
I was the oyster, she was my pearl
How could she do me, how could she do me like this?
So much rage going through my fists . . .

I yell
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I scream AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
A . . A . . . A . . . A, A, A, A, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yeah, it's hard to relate to their lyrics unless you are in high school.

I like LP but they ooze more angst than the entire catalogue of WB shows - past, present, and future.
