I'm 40. I started going to concerts when I was in high school. When I was in my 20s I played in rock bands and used to hang out in rock clubs almost every night. You do the math.

Major bands? A ton. Bands in clubs? A thousand? I don' t know... some bands I've seen 20, 30, and a couple even over 100 times.

Let's see... going out to shows 3-4 times a month from '85 to '91. 2-3 times a week from '91 to '98. Slowing down to about 1 show a week from '99-01. Now it's about 1 show a month. Each show I've seen at least 1 band, but sometimes up to 8 bands (sometime's I'd hit 3 clubs in a night). Let's make it 3 bands a night when I go out to keep it simple...

That's a lot of shows! 4314 performances by looking at the most conservative estimates. Probably should cut that in half to make it sound even remotely realistic. Many of those bands were duplicates (seen the Supersuckers about 30 times, Goo Goo Dolls 30 times, Rugburns/Poltz over 100 times).

Damn! Glad I still have my hearing!
